Chapter 1
'Can this day get any worse?' I think as I drive home. I mean, a lot of bad stuff has happened to me today, I didn't know how it could get worse. But the universe just loves proving people wrong. This morning, my alarm clock didn't go off so I woke up 30 minutes late. I put on the first things I touched, which was a yellow and white vertically stripped shirt with a thin brown belt attached at the waist, a pair of brown shorts, yellow sandals, and a necklace with a big opal gem. After quickly putting on minimal makeup, I throw my hair up into a messy bun, run downstairs and mix up some instant breakfast. I pour that into a to go coffee cup and and go brush my teeth. Grabbing my bag and purse, I head downstairs and grab my cup and keys. My little sister, Camryn, got a ride to school with her best friend and her mom, who just so happens to be our next door neighbor.
I quickly put my keys into the ignition and try to start my car. After a few more tries, I end up having to jump start it. Luckily, my parents only take one of their cars to work, as they work at the same place. Afterwords, I jump into my car and start the 15 minute drive to school. Since I was trying to get to school a.s.a.p, I was speeding. A cop pulls
me over and gives me a $50 fine. I end upbringing late, so I get a detention. I forgot my homework on my desk, so tomorrow is also booked for detention. During 3rd hour, my head started pounding and I developed a low fever. Apparently, someone was eager to get out of 4th hour, so they pushed me out of the way, causing me to trip and hit the right side of my face on the edge of a desk. I got sent to the nurse, who gave me an ice pack and had me lay down all hour, causing me to miss choir, one of my favorite parts of the day.
6th hour, lunch, someone was too lazy to clean up their spilled food and someone slipped, sending their tray sailing through the air and landing straight on me. I spent the rest of the time trying to get the spots out. I completely flunked my math test, the P.E teacher had us run laps and do push ups, sit ups, squats, burpees, and wall jumps as punishment for talking too much. And my last hour, science, we had to dissect a frog. My lab partner thought it would be fun to chase me around, trying to give me a hug covered in frog guts. That, plus the smell, made me puke up just about everything but my memories. I got sent back to the nurse who checked on my eye, which had blackened, my cheek, which had bruised, and my lip, which had split open. She gave me some pain killers and sent me on my way. To detention, that is. For an hour I had to sit there, silently suffering through my pain.
Now I'm driving home with half of my face bruised, a 103.5 degree fever, a killer headache, sore and tired muscles, and having to stop twice to throw up. As soon as I get home I'm greeted by my mom saying"Harmony Ann Renaldes, 2 detentions in one day? And a ticket? You better tell me what th-" She was cut short by turning to look at me and gasping. Stepping closer, she lays her hand on my four head then each cheek. I wince as her hand touches my right cheek. "Sorry sweetie. Go lie down and I'll bring you an ice pack, painkillers, and herbal tea. Are you hungry?" She questions. I shake my head slowly, trying not to make my head feel worse, but not trusting myself to open my mouth.
I slowly shuffle up the stairs and into my room. I walk over to my bed, let my bag slip down my arm and onto the floor before laying down. A minute later my mom came into my room and handed me the pills and a warm mug of tea. After I hand the small mug back to my mom she gently lays a wash cloth covered ice pack on my face. "I'll leave a bowl beside your bed, okay?" She tells me and I barley manage a nod. "Get some rest," she says before closing my blinds, turning off the lights and closing the door behind her. I soon fall into a deep sleep.

"Harmony, sweetie, how are you feeling?" I heard my mom say soothingly. "Still feel like shit, but better than yesterday," I tell her. "Language," she tells me and I manage to roll my eyes. "We'll, I already called your school and told them that you'd be absent today. I'll make you some more herbal tea before I leave. Is that ok?" I nod. "Can you send dad in before you guys leave?" My mother hesitated and shook her head before saying "Well... uh, you see, your dad went to work early to ummm... get his mind off of some, ah... family issues,"my mom says reluctantly. "What family issues?" I question. "Let's talk about it later,"my mom tells me. I reluctantly nod, not in any mood to put up a fight. My mom leaves my room and comes back with more tea, painkillers, and another ice pack. I swallow the pills and finish the tea before putting the ice pack on my face. My mom gently kisses my forehead and says "Love you, Ann. See you soon." I nod but hesitantly call out "Mom? Is it... anything I need to be worried about?"
My moms eyes are clouded with confusion for a minute before understanding takes over. "No, dear. Nothing like that. Your father and I love each other very much. Just because I fight with your father doesn't mean that I don't love him. It's normal for couples to fight, have ups and downs, misunderstandings. A relationship is all about trust. If you can't trust him he's not worth your time. I trust your father, okay? Now I want you to stop worrying and get some sleep. And try not to get up unless absolutely nessicary. It's most likely just a 24 hour bug. I love you, sweetheart. Remember, when I get home we'll talk, if you feel up to it," she reminds me. "If I feel better before you get home, can I go to the stables?" I ask hopefully before having a coughing fit. "Sure," she replies before leaving. I hear Camryn knock on my door. "Come in," I croak. "Just wanted to check on you before I leave. Y'know, you being sick and all." I nod. "Need anything?" She asks. "No, I'm fine. Thank you though. Go finish getting ready," I tell her.
Around 20 minutes later I hear Camryn yell "Bye, Harmony!" before slamming the front door. Not being able to stand the silence, I turn on my One Direction playlist that consists of One Direction, Taylor Swift, Kesha, Little Mix, Selena Gomez, Bridget Mendler, Fun, All Star Weekend, and a few other artists. Putting it on shuffle, I manage to fall asleep after a few songs.

This is a new story that I've been working on for a while now and I hope you like it. The first chapter is short and boring, but I promise that they'll get longer and more interesting. The second chapter will give you more information about Harmony. I'll try to upload it tonight. If not, I will some time tomorrow morning. Sleep well and I love you guys! :*
