I knew I wasn't an idiot, my once sparkling violet eyes now held nothing but dullness.

He tried to look at them through my curtain of raven black hair, but to no avail failed.

"Will you stop cringing" I demanded attempting to clean the gash on his right cheek.

I almost could have laughed at how comical his glare to the cotton swab was.

Almost....

Then again stranger things are comical at this point to most people.

Like poisoning one's damn tea.

As the quietness settled in around us besides his constant hissing protest, it was hard to ignore the now awkward atmosphere setting in.

I could tell he felt it too.

"All done," I told him, throwing away the used bandages.

"Thank you" He whispered so softly I almost didn't hear.

As I make my way to the sink I feel him creeping up behind me, breathing down my neck as he holds me. Sending shivers down my spine.

"I don't expect your forgiveness Alyssa; we both know I'm too messed up for that" he stated

Detesting the feeling of moths in my belly, knowing butterflies are long gone, trembling in fear of the remaining feelings I felt, that was exactly what almost got me killed.

"Nathan I can't forgive you yet. Soon maybe but I can't ever forget. Having someone you love just stand by and watch as you get poisoned isn't something you forget." By now I was yelling in hysterics.

"I know! Don't you think I know how messed up it all was, I'm a coward!" He pleaded turning me around to face him.

His face was the epitome of pain in that moment.

I couldn't find myself to care though because there was no way he was taking this moment from me.

"Well, finally something we can both agree on" I shot back struggling out of his arms.

By now the only thing to do that calmed my furry was washing the dishes.

Until my furious scrubbing was interrupted by being flung back into his arms.

We were so close that our noses were touching, yet it felt like we were so far away.

"It's not fair" I whimpered

"I know I feel it too," He said kissing my forehead.

"But you don't know, you don't know what it's like waking up alone, in pain, bleeding and sobbing in so much agony it consumes you. You will never know." I sobbed into his shirt.

"No your right I don't, but I will spend the rest of my life fixing it" He soothed

I knew by now my resolve to resist was gone, knowing I had just signed my own death wish.

But I didn't care...

I didn't care for the pitter patter of the rain.

Nor the cracking of the thunder.

Or even all the dead moths scattered on the floor.

No all I cared for was this moment in the kitchen, just holding each other, consoling each other.

So that is how we stayed for the rest of the night, even when we fell asleep, neither was willing to disturb one another for the peaceful solace we found.
