"Pookie, are you ready to go?" I hear Sean yell from the front door. He had just gotten back and wanted to go and get some food for this week. They were still working on making sure that I was eating healthy and also eating enough.
"Ready!" I yell back pulling a pair of socks on my feet before running to the door. I pull on a pair of ankle boots that had no heels, Gabe was mad that I managed to sneak a pair onto the last purchase but I really did not want to wobble everywhere I went.
I smile up at Sean as I jump up after pulling the zipper up on the last boot. Sean laughs at my enthusiasm then bend down to place a gentle kiss on my lips. I cannot help it but feel my smile grow wider.
We walk out to the car arm in arm and Sean opens my door for me, I slide in and get settled while waiting for him to get in too. Once we start out on the road Sean reaches over and holds my hand, letting it rest on my lap.
"What do you want for dinner?" Sean asks, glancing my way briefly.
"Spaghetti tacos," I say being slightly silly and slightly serious.
"I think we can manage that, what else would you like with them?" Sean asks.
"Garlic bread and nachos?" I say. I am not sure what goes with spaghetti tacos but I would guess that going with something that could match both sides of the combo would work.
Sean laughs, "Spaghetti tacos, garlic bread and nachos. I think that will work perfectly Pookie."
When we get to the store we start with fruits and vegetables. We get some things to make smoothies and also to make salsa. We end up with probably a third of the cart full of just fruits, when there are ten people who are going to make smoothies then it really adds up in fruit. Later, when we get home we are going to cut up fruit and divide them into little bags that will make one smoothie. I like the idea but I might make a few big bags so that I can make a few at once if there is more than one person.
After finding all the fixings for tonight we move on to find something for tomorrow too.
"How about cowboy stew?" I ask. We have not had it in a while and it does sound pretty good.
"That sounds good, why don't we get some stuff to make corn bread too?" Sean asks.
I smile and nod at Sean, we make a good team when shopping for groceries. We find a few things for lunch, mainly just sandwich fixings and things to go with them.
After finding some juice to go with making smoothies and just some to drink as well I manage to pull him over to the coffee drinks and get to put more than just a few into the cart.
Going up to the checkout counter I see a few people with cloth bags, they are using them instead of the store bags. That looks like a really good idea, it saves you from breaking handles and having a bunch of bags sitting in a closet or under the sink.
"Do we have any of those bags?" I ask curious.
"No, we should get some." Sean says and then looks around.
I spot some by a checkout nearby and tell him I will be right back. I pull a few off and then reconsider, we have a lot of food and we always seem to when shopping. I pull a few more off and end up walking back with about ten bags.
"Is this enough?" I ask while showing him how many I grabbed.
"It should be, we can always divide them up between houses or cars. Then we will always have a few of them if we go out shopping," Sean says.
When it is our turn we hand the bags over first so that we can buy them then they start to ring up our food and put them away in the bags. When they get to the end I smile as the last item fits perfectly in the last bag.
"Perfect Pookie," Sean says smiling at me as he swipes his card to pay.
When we get to the car the groceries seem easier to load in since the handles cannot just break from the weight of the groceries. We quickly get it all loaded up and then I slide into the front seat while Sean puts the cart away.
When he gets in he smiles at me, "Let's go make spaghetti tacos Pookie."
