The next morning we woke up starving. "Alice....I'm hungry..." Izzy cried. "Okay...calm down, Rusty and I will go and find something. Okay?" I said then looked at Rusty. "Okay...." She said and went to lay back down. "We'll be back soon." I said as Rusty and I walked out of the den and looked at each other. "We don't know how to hunt." Rusty said to me. "It's never to late to learn. We always use to watch mom and dad hunt for mice in the field, so if they can do it then we can too!" I said with a positive attitude. "Okay...I guess we can try." He said as he started walking. As we came to a field we spotted a herd of deer grazing. "Get down." Rusty whispered to me. We started to crawl toward a baby that could barley walk. Then I accidentally stepped on a stick. The deer stopped, looked around and then ran off. We lost our dinner.....
When we got back to the den Izzy was fast asleep. Rusty and I went and laid down and fell to sleep.
The next morning when we woke up, we headed out to find something to eat. We found an animal that was already dead, so we munched on that. Then we were off again, we had no idea where we were going, or where we would end up, we just started walking. We were on our own now. "We really need to learn how to hunt." Izzy said with her head down watching her paws as she walked. Rusty and I looked at her in disbelief. "Are you serious?" I said looking at Izzy. "Yeah, it's time for us to grow up and be the wolves that mom and dad would have wanted us to be." "She's right." Rusty said.
Night time slowly took over the last bit of day, and we didn't find a cave to sleep in. We always slept in a cave, we never really sleep in the open, but we were tonight. "I'm getting kind of tired we should rest here for the night." Rusty said stopping to lay down. "Okay." Izzy and I said in unison. "Good night." I said lying down and drifting into a deep peaceful sleep.
