Jace Anthony is returning home after six long years in the Navy. The family Jace comes home to isn’t the one he left. He lost his mother. His father entered a serious stretch of depression. His older brother has thrown himself into his work and has forgotten how to communicate with the children he helped create. His older sister has lost every caring bone in her body and has become the living, breathing version of Cruella D’evil, even her children are scared of her. His younger sister has never been the same since ‘the incident’. Nevertheless, every Sunday the family get together to have a day together to forget their problems and remember that they still have each other. Its all the other days of the week that cause problems.

This is all thanks to Lizzie.

Lizzie has known Jace and his family all her life. She is the glue to the family, trying to keep them together and to fix everyone’s problems. This means waking up at three in the morning to bail out Jace’s sister. Or to take Mr Anthony and his friends on a day trip to play golf. Or to cook dinner. Lizzie promised Jace she would take good care of everyone when he left. But there’s no one there to fix Lizzie’s own problems.

Of course Jace has no idea about Lizzie’s problems. Despite the fact Lizzie writes to Jace every other week like clockwork, Jace has no idea about her problems. Instead he hears about how his family is doing, along with pictures from his niece and nephew, and small gifts, which are cheekily smuggled in.

Either way Jace is back, and he’s not happy with what he’s seeing.
