He lives in the cold city wearing a blue worn out bandana,  searching for a warm meal and a good place to sleep.  His name is Mortimer with teeth so white you wouldn't know he's a stray.  pg. 1

Mortimer once had a home that didn't last. Since he was a young pup he had been wandering the streets. He was 'happy' with his life now at the good age of five.    pg. 2

Every Wednesday night he went by this pizza place. They had one of the best meals around for Mortimer to chomp on; crust, sauce, melted cheese and some meat surprise!

Today wasn't any different. Mortimer ate the cheese plates wondering where he would rest. He would never stay two nights at the same place because doggnappers might catch him.
Once Mortimer was done he walked to Jupiter Park, where many humans don't go anymore.   pg. 3

Today is a bright day, as usual Mortimer is alone.

'So thirsty.' He thought.

Mortimer pondered about where he could get drink. Jupiter Park does have a nice stream that would do for him.

Mortimer continued to drink until his nose dripped. Now he needed a good meal but
nothing is ever around this early.

Mortimer continued to stay hungry.   pg. 4

He walked passing silver metal buckets where food was left out for animals.

None had food in them today, only boxes and funny smelling cotton.  Pg. 5

Tired after hours of walking without food to eat Mortimer took rest by an old house dosing
off.  pg. 6

"Excuse me!" Shouted a voice. "What are you doing here?"

Mortimer awoke.

"Oh sorry.  I must have dosed off.  I'll be leaving now." He walked away.

"Wait, I'm Lilly.  I live here. I don't get much company. Where do you come from?" She asked.

"No where.  And don't follow me." Mortimer snapped.

"Don't be rude.  My yard was your sleep cushion. You could at least speak to me a while." Lilly told him.

"Fine. What?" Asked Mortimer.

"I'm Lilly."

"I know."

"Oh. Who are you?" Lilly asked.

"Is that important?"

"Yes it is." She answered him.

"Fine. Mortimer."

"Well Mortimer, I'm Lilly. I live here. I never get company. Let's talk. My humans are real busy. They usually don't walk me. So I have to- you know-. Do the -."

"Please don't finish that, please!" Interrupted Mortimer.

"Well you know. I eat my meals outside. I walk around the yard until I eat again."

Mortimer's stomach growled.

"What was that? Did you hear that? Is it my horrid neighbor Genti?"

"It's my stomach. I haven't ate." Mortimer confessed.

"Me either. I don't eat left overs. I leave them till my humans see. Nope, not touching it. I want that can food. It's so great squishy." Lilly rambled.  pg. 7

Mortimer couldn't stand it anymore.

"Do you like the color white? How about black? I heard people see yellow and pink and red and purple and orange-."
