Prologue :

Prologue 

I was dreaming, I had to be. Things like this do not exist; I don't believe they do anyways. I can't believe that the boy I love is a . . . I don't know what he is, actually I do but the thought, it drives me insane. I want him to explain it to me to tell me how he became what he is. To tell me what I can do to help.

He has to know that I will always be there for him no matter what trouble he got himself into; no matter how many people he . . . I don't want to think about that. I love him and I can't stand the thought of losing him. My Damian, I fell in love with him on the first day of school, it was a Monday in September 2009. I never really had the courage to talk to him but I did tell my friends about him. He has green eyes like the grass in the spring, he has brown messy hair that I would have given everything just to touch it and mess it up. He has lips that every girl wanted to have the chance to kiss including me.

I've been in school with him for the whole winter but it was the summer of 2010 in July when I first talked to him. We were in the woods where every high school student goes to in the summer to hang out, there is a river where you can swim in it and that is where Damian was with his friends Ayden, Christopher and Dean. I was with my friends Aria, Emily and Fay. We were all talking about how to spend the rest of the summer when my friends stop talking and started looking behind me. As I looked I could see him right there looking at me waiting for me to go talking to him I guess, but I couldn’t I was too shy and he was just so gorgeous. I kept staring in his eyes and so did he, until he came to talk to me.

“Hi, I’m Damian,” he said with a smile that made my heart stop beating.

“Hi, I know we have history and math together. I’m Maya by the way.” I said wondering if he knew I even existed.

“Yeah, I know who you are, I was just wondering when you were going to talk to me so I decided to talk to you first.”

I can’t believe that Damian Black is talking to me. Aaaa! Relax Maya you’re going to have a break down if you don’t calm the heck down.

“Oh, really?” I asked in shock. “Well I’m talking to you know.” I told him.

“Yes I can see that,” he said and I felt oh so stupid. “So I’ve been meaning to ask you if you would ever like to go to the movies with me.”

“I’d really like that.” I told him, feeling so happy that I wanted to start screaming and jump in the water but I decided that I will scream when I am at home and where Damian wouldn’t see me.

“So I’ll give you a call. Here’s my number.” He pulled a paper out of his pocket and gave to me. “Be expecting a call soon,” he smiled and went to meet up with his friends.

I looked around and I started walking near my friends which were only about 5 steps away. They all came to me and asked me what happened. I was so excited that I didn’t have any breath to talk.

He called he actually called and we decided to go out on Saturday to go watch a movie. I was so excited I couldn’t stop talking about it and then it hit me, what was I going to wear? I decided to go with a really sexy jeans and a black top, I wore high heels (Not that high).

The day came and I was super excited I called Aria twenty five times.

“He’s not going to come Aria I swear he doesn’t like me like that, what am I going to do I feel like such a fool for falling for him and saying yes to go out with him,” I said without a breath

“Maya take it easy he’s going to come it’s only seven, he told you he was going to come at eight for you. Relax and take a deep breath.” Aria said trying to make me calm.

I decided that she was right so I didn’t call her again. It was seven, forty five when I heard the bell ring. I went to see who it was.

“Hi Maya, you look great, are you ready?” Damian asked. He actually came, maybe he does kind of like me, that’s awesome.

“Hi Damian, thank you, you look gor . . . I mean you look great as well,” I said feeling excited, “yeah I’m ready, come inside. What film are we going to see?” I said, as he came inside my house. My parents weren’t there, but they knew I was going out and my big brother Mathias was out with some of his friends.

“Thanks! I don’t know, I was going to ask you what kind of movies you like.”

“Well I like Romantic Comedy, or Horror movies. What about you?”

“Cool. I like horror movies and comedy. Want to see a horror movie tonight? And then maybe next time we will see a Romantic Comedy.” He grinned.

“Ok great I’ll just get my purse and we will go.” I ran up to my room to get my purse. I was super happy he already wanted to go on another date.

We left the house and arrived at the cinema, there were two horror movies showing, one was called ‘Fright Night’ and the other was ‘Sorority Row’. We decided to see ‘Fright Night’. Half way through the film it started to get a little bit scary and when Damian saw that I was scared he held my hand and we looked in each other’s eyes. We shared popcorn and drank some coke.

When the movie ended we started heading home.

“So that was an amazing movie. I had a really great time.” I said smiling at him.

“Yeah me to we should do it some other time . . . If you want.”

“Oh yeah defiantly!”

We arrived at my house and I was about to say goodbye and head inside when Damian grabbed my hand.

“Umm . . . I wanted to do something before we say goodbye.” He said looking a little bit shy. I didn’t talk, I just waited for him to say something more when he started leaning to my face. Our lips where almost touching and then we kissed. As it happened I felt a spark and I wanted it to last forever.

After that he left and I went inside ready to call all my friend and tell them what had happened, when I get a text from Damian saying ‘I had a really good time with you tonight, I hope you didn’t mind me kissing you! Do you want to go out tomorrow?’ I was so happy I texted him back ‘No I didn’t mind it was great. Tomorrow is perfect.’  I went up to my room and put out my journal and started writing. I can’t wait for tomorrow.

Our first date was perfect and that is how things started with us, we went out a few more times and then it was official we where boyfriend and girlfriend. Now it’s 2011 we are still together but the secret is out. He didn’t tell me about it, I actually found out by myself, nobody knows but what makes it bad is that I can’t tell anybody and it’s not a dream. Damian is a vampire.
