I walked as fast as I could, which isn't very fast, to biology. I would run, but I don't want to take the chance of anyone seeing me panting, sweating, or falling down. So, walking is the next best option.
It took me some time to get to bio, but I'm not as late as I usually am. Maybe five or seven minutes tardy.
When I got to the classroom, I was breathing a little heavy, but nothing too noticeable. I opened the door to find the whole class staring at me.
"Ms. Reeding, care to explain why you are so late today?" Ms. Senturn asked me.
"Not really," I mumbled.
Ms. Senturn sighed, "Abby, please try to get to class on time tomorrow."
"Okay," I said quietly.
I went to my seat at the back of the class and tried to lower myself into my chair, trying to be invisible.
After that, I didn't quite focus on what Ms. Senturn was saying, but I probably already learned it. See, I've been absent so much, I have to complete all my lessons ahead of time. I'm almost done with all my textbooks, which is a good thing. Meaning I don't always have to pay attention to the slow paced class.
I sat there in class, getting pretty bored. I started humming the tune to a Coldplay song. I closed my eyes, trying not to concentrate on anything. I was doing a pretty good job until some kid said something to me and ruined it.
"Hey, what song are you singing," the boy next to asked.
I looked at him. He had light brown hair, a very strong build, probably on the football team, and his eyes, were the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. They were brown with streaks of hazel. He-
"Hello, are you gonna answer me?" he said.
"I'm probably not gonna answer you," I replied.
"Aww, why?" he pouted.
"Because I'm not comfortable talking to strangers about the songs I sing," I snapped.
"I'm not a stranger, so you can talk to me about the song you sing," he said happily.
"If you aren't a stranger, how come I don't know who you are or what's your name?" I asked.
The boy looked shocked, maybe because my ferociousness, or the tone of my voice.
"Y-you don't know who I am?" he said.
"Yes I don't," I said
"Everyone knows who I am," he said while looking at me like I was an alien.
I rolled my eyes, "Apparently not everyone."
"I'm Travis Martins, straight 'A' student, student council president, quarter-back for the football team, and the most handsome buy on campus. How do you not know who I am?" Travis, I guess that's his name, stated.
I rolled my eyes again, "Wow, you are so modest, and please note the sarcasm. Besides, I just don't know who you are, well, now I know a little bit about you. And you don't know anything about me. That's how it should stay."
The bell, who was apparently working with me today, suddenly rang and I jumped out of my seat and walked as fast as I could out the door and to my next class.
The day went by, I saw Travis a few times today, but he didn't bother me, and I didn't talk to him. That was a good thing.
I made my way to the back of the school. I took out my phone and dialed my aunt's number. She picked up at the first ring.
"Is something wrong, are you okay, do you need to go to the hospital?" my aunt panicked.
"No! No, I was just wondering what time you would get here," I said.
"Oh, gosh, that almost gave me a heart attack, I'll be there around three o'clock," my aunt said.
"Okay, thanks. Bye," I said and I hung up.
I was about to put my phone away when it started ringing.
The caller ID read Doctor Tanner. I automatically picked up.
"Hello?" I said.
"Hi, is this Abby?" the voice questioned.
"Yes, this is Abby," I answered.
"Okay great, Abby, this is Doctor Tanner," Doctor Tanner said.
"Hi, something up?" I questioned.
"Um, well, yes. The new results just came in," she said.
My breath hitched, "Is it alright?"
"We found that you leukemia is growing worse," she replied.
Oh no, I thought.
"I already told your aunt and uncle. We're trying to get the medicine in, but it's taking longer than we hoped for to get here," Doctor Tanner said.
"O-okay, t-t-thanks for t-telling me," my voice cracked.
"I'm sorry, were doing all we can. Who knows, maybe a miracle will happen and your leukemia will be cured," she said hopefully.
"Yeah, miracles happen a lot in my life," I mumbled.
"I'm sorry what was that," Doctor Tanner asked.
"Nothing, thanks for telling me again," I said and hanged up.
I sighed.
Then I suddenly felt like someone was watching me.
I turned around and saw Travis gaping at me.
Oh great, now someone knows my secret, I thought.
Author's Note:
Okay part two is done! This one is a little bit longer because I didn't make the same mistake as to write at night, but it isn't as long as I'd like it to be. Oh well, I'll try next time. Oh and I forgot to mention before. The cover isn't gonna stay like that forever. To me it's horrible, very bad. I got my phone taken away and so I can't take a picture of the real cover or make it good. I just rushed it by taking a awful picture of it on my sister's phone and downloaded it onto the computer. So yeah, once I get my phone back, I promise there will be a better cover. Until then, this ones gotta do. And I'm not great at describing things so sorry about the lame description of Travis. Peace out!
