I ring the bell and wait for it to open. I am greeted by a cheerful looking middle-aged lady.

She invites me inside. I look around and immediately am in awe of the  place. It looks absolutely marvellous. Exactly something I was looking for.

Finally the lady spoke pulling me out of my trance. "You were the one to call me up a while ago right? Hi, I'm Mrs Styles. But you can just call me Lisa." She offers her hand, and I shake it warmly.

"Hey, I'm December. Your house is  beautiful." I say.

"December! That's a lovely name, just like the month." She smiles at me.

I know, I know. I have a perfectly weird name. I mean who names their daughter December? Well, my parents did. My mom being a fashion designer she is, has always loved unique stuff, sometimes even which nobody has heard of. When she couldn't think of something exactly pleasing, she thought why not just name her after the month she is born in. Fancy, I know!

"Thanks. So, can I have a look around?" I ask.

"Sure dear. Come on I'll escort you." She says and guides me through the apartment.

She shows me through the apartment and I'm positive that this house is the one I'm going to purchase. I look around, and finally something strikes me.

"Lisa, your ad in the newspaper said that there would be 2 bedrooms, but I can see only one."

I knew I didn't need more than one bedroom because I would be the only person living here, but my parents visit me too often to make sure that I'm surviving well. Well, I guess that's what happens when you're the only child.

My mom is too adamant about not sharing a room with anybody, well that being except my dad. And she is not the one to sleep on the couch, that won't happen ever.

"Ummm... Yes. The ad. I've called the ad agency about a hundred times already requesting them to make corrections, but people these days you know. Nobody takes their work seriously." She says.

But then the conversation I had with mom today morning rings in my head. And realization hits me hard. If I don't settle on this one, I'll have to go back home. And I don't want that. Its already 8:00 PM. I possibly have no more time to visit any more houses. So I guess I'll have to adjust with this. I'll think about mom later.

"I guess I like this place. I would like to make the deal." I said.

"Well, great then. And one more thing, I hope you're married?" She asks.

I'm confused for a bit. What does that have to do with anything?

"Huh?" I ask confused.

"I asked if you're married. I'm only allowed to sell this house to married people. One of the reasons being, the other residents of this building. They strictly don't allow bachelors to reside alone. And I don't want to get in any trouble." She says.

I'm at a loss of words. I don't know what to do.

" So, I hope you're not a bachelor?" She enquires again when she says that I don't reply.

"Uh-huh..." I say unsure of what else to say.

"Great. So where's your husband today?" She asks.

I finally realize what I have gotten myself into. "He's been really busy with work lately. He's hardly got any time for anything else." I utter out without giving it a thought.

"Oh. That must be hard for you then?"
She asks "Its great to see that you don't mind facing all this alone. Brave girl."

"Ha-ha. Its no biggy, really." I fake laugh. "Can we just sign the deal? I'm in a real hurry."

"But I'll be needing your husband's sign in the documents. I doubt we can proceed further without that." She says.

I almost flipped at that. "Actually my husband is out of town and he's not coming before a week or two. And I'm in a real crisis right now. I really need a place to stay at. I'll get him to sign the papers once he's back. Can you please just let me stay? I'll give you the whole sum of money by tomorrow." I plead.

I can see her giving a thought about it. "You know this could get me into some serious trouble?."

"Please! Just trust me. One week. Matt should be back in a week." Woah! I just made up a fictional character. I never knew I was such a pro at lying. And I don't even know where that name came from. Like seriously, Matt?

"Alright. But if he doesn't come back by then, you'll have to leave." She states.

"Yes ma'am. Deal!" I say. But I had no idea what was I gonna do.

"Okay then, I'll see you tomorrow. We'll sign the deal tomorrow morning then by 11 AM." She says.

"Yes ma'am. I'll get the cheque along."

And with that I leave. I was starting to think that it was a better idea to survive in my car. At least I wouldn't have to lie.

Now that statement does not indicate that I've always been a goody two shoes, but I had always had a hatred for liars, which also means I hate myself right now.

I'm so lost in thoughts that I don't realise when I reach my car and am seated inside. I start the ignition and start my journey back to the current place I was living in.

My thoughts kept wandering to what was I going to do next. I had no clue how I would tackle this situation. The only thing I knew was, that I didn't want to go back.

I was tired of that perfect life I had got since I was a kid. The leisured life, I didn't want anymore of that. I was never allowed to do any of my own work. My parents were always so intent on showing off, that they never realized what I really wanted.

There was nobody I could talk to. I was always an introvert. Sarah was my first actual friend I had made. I could talk to her about anything, and I knew she would never judge. It was always a good time with her. I was going to miss her so much.

I don't even know what was going around me in reality, my thoughts had consumed me wholly.

The next thing I know is, I see a pedestrian with a hood on crossing the road without looking left and right. I hit hard on my brakes. Whatever happens next is a blur.

Uh-oh, this is exactly something I didn't want to get myself in.
