A Book with a Twist
She sat in the back of the library, on a couch reading her favourite book, "The Fault in Our Stars". Not knowing what was in the day ahead.
Poppy was her name; she was fifteen with mid-length brown hair and mysterious violet eyes.
She had lived most of her life in the library, because her family owned it. On this very day her life changed forever. Poppy was a girl with a wild imagination, she would she was a character in the books she was reading. One day she would be a young lady falling in love and the next day she would be a warrior princess. Poppy was looking for a book she hadn't read before, but she was starting to give up, when she finished another loop of the library. Just as she was about to give up something gold caught her eye. Poppy had never seen that book in the library before, so she approached slowly but something was pulling her faster towards the book. She took it in her hands; suddenly the book opens and flips to page fifteen. She thought that it was weird but still read what was on the page, it said: On this very day, the book will take you away. As soon as she finished reading it over a few times, the book let out a flash and Poppy felt really dizzy. All of a sudden Poppy got sucked into the book.
Poppy sat up, rubbed her eyes and took in her surroundings. She saw a deep forest around her, with large oak trees and wild flowers everywhere, she wished she could stay there for ever but she was determined to find someone, anyone who could help her. As it started to get darker and darker she came across a house with a light on, so she knocked on the door to see if anyone would answer. As she was about to walk away the door opened revealing an old man. He was tall with grey hair and a long grey beard. Poppy just stood there taking in his appearance. Then she looked into his sleepy eyes, as soon as he saw her eyes it looked like he had seen a ghost. He ushered Poppy into his home and she followed cautiously behind. When she was inside he shut the door to keep the warmth in. He just kept staring at her until she broke the silence by asking a question. "Why do you keep looking at me like I'm a ghost," she asked shyly keeping her head down. " I have never seen eyes like yours in my life time. I have only heard about violet eyes in a legend that everyone talks about," he answered with a croaky voice, while looking out a window. "Could you please tell me the legend?" she asked quietly, while looking up. He looked into her eyes and replied with a nod. " A long time ago it was said the a 15 year old girl with violet eyes will help defeat the beast that controls this land after it killed the ruler fifteen years ago'. He said in a narrator's tone. Poppy just sat there trying to get her head around things, after a few minuets past the old man showed her where she could sleep and went to bed himself.
In the morning she opened her eyes expecting to be in her bed, like it was just a dream but no, she woke on an old dusty couch in an old looking living room. As she started to get up the old man came in with two mugs in his hand and offered Poppy one, she kindly excepted. For half an hour they sat there talking about where she had come from and how it was all a blur getting to the new world.
After a while of sitting there talking, Poppy got up, thanked the old man and walked out the door. As soon as she walked out the door the old man ran after her calling out her name. Poppy stopped and turned around, wondering what he wanted. He caught up quickly for an old man.
