There are multiple ways to get a broken heart. For example, when a swan dies their partner could pass away from a broken heart. See, humans are almost like swans; we feel that heartbreak, that affliction that one simple human being can cause. Like the infamous story of Romeo and Juliet, their vivid and passionate love brought them both to death. And love isn't a horrifying thing, it's just sometimes a shot in the dark. Those "what ifs" always haunt us and makes us all question if the love we have is sincere.
Even if a love is sincere, we all have that terrifying thought that of course, we're not immortal. All of us have that palpable destiny of, one day, reaching that eternal sleep. Once we reach that eternal sleep, our partner will feel that ache of a broken heart. They may not physically die but part of them just slowly shatters like glass. We may not be completely like swans but in the end, like them, we feel awful and they feel torment when their partner dies so, they die too.
In the end, pain is simply what is felt when a swan dies.
