Chapter 6
I had spent the next few weeks mourning the loss of my mother and I was finally beginning to feel a little better. I had written a letter a day to my mum and Tristan was right, it felt great to get it all off my chest. None of us could face sorting out her things so we left it in the boxes and put them in the loft. One day we'd get to it. I'd gone back to school and became closer with the boys than I ever had with anybody. Even though Brad And James still didn't know about my mum they didn't bring up for breakdown again. It got great to have real friends but I wanted to get to know some of the girls in my year.
Connor said the boys were coming over for band practice and to be honest, I was quite nervous considering I'd embarrassed myself in front of them last time I'd seen them. I heard the front door open and assumed that Connor and the band were back.
It was my turn to do the housework so I decided to head downstairs and start it now. The dishes hadn't been washed yet so that would be my first job, however, the boys were all in the kitchen.
"Con your out of naked juice," said James, his head was stuck in the fridge whilst Tristan was rummaging in the freezer above him.
"And you have no ice cream," Tris pouted.
"Sorry guys, I forgot you guys were coming and I didn't have time to stock up, it's been pretty busy around here." Connor replied looking through the cupboards for snacks.
"I can go to the shop if you want? Dad wanted me to pick up something for dinner anyway," I asked, talking for the first time.
"Your a life saver Elle!" Connor grinned.
"I think that's a bit of an over exaggeration," I said, I glanced around at the nous and they were all grinning at me.
"You don't know the boys like I do," he said shaking his head.
"So what do you want?" I asked them looking around. They all shouted out different things. I sighed and rolled my eyes at them.
"I'll come with you, it will be easier," Tristan suggested. We both headed out to the hallway so I could get my bag and money before we left. We headed out of the front door and walked down the road towards the shop.
"How are things?" Tris asked.
"I feel better now and I owe it all to you, thank you!" I replied. He had really helped, if he hadn't suggested writing the letter then I would still be bottling my feelings up.
"Are you sure? It hasn't been very long, you haven't had chance to grieve properly," He said.
"I wasn't particularly close with my mum, Wedge was always working late on business trips. I only saw her on Sundays and sometimes I didn't see her for ages. I guess that's how I'm dealing with it, because she was away so often I just expect her to come back." I replied.
"I'm sorry Elle, but I suppose it's better that way," I just nodded, I wish I'd gotten to know my mum more but I was never close her. We walked into the shop and immediately I ran to the ice cream.
"Twister Lollies!" I shouted, they were my favourite and I loved them!
"They're my favourite" Tristan grinned.
"They're mine too!" I said back. We picked up a couple of packs before turning back to get other food.
"Connor will want more chips and James will want naked juice, we may as well get Brad some jaffa cakes," Tristan listed the items that we needed to pick up.
"Boys are so weird," I shook my head and walked off in the direction of the drinks.
After we'd finished collecting snacks we headed back home to see the boys.
