It was just me and her. Alone. In an abandoned factory. We looked out over the horizon at the nothingness that was left. She turned to me and looked up at me. I felt the warmth of her hands as she cupped my face. I could hear her soft sharp breaths. We stood for a moment, gazing into eachothers eyes. I could see her fear and I could feel her pain and love all emanating from her eyes. I pulled her close to me and , not breaking eye contact, our foreheads touched. I closed my eyes and thought of everything that happened and how, after we had lost everything, we managed to stay with eachother and support one another. When our lips finally met, our kisses were urgent and passionate. Right then in that moment it was just me and her and nothing else mattered. I came to realise then how much she meant to me and how much I really needed her by my side. After we pulled away I, deprived of oxygen, inhaled deeply. When I opened my eyes I saw that she had had her eyes shut tight and her lashes were wet. "I'm sorry" she whispered, her voice ragged and hoarse. I embraced her and held her tightly in my arms. I could feel the heat radiating from her body, her tears softly falling onto my shoulder and her chest rising and falling as she gasped desperately for air. Her frame was shaking and she buckled her knees however not for one second did I let her go. We slowly lowered onto the floor. Once we were sitting I placed a soft kiss on her forehead and stroked her hair, reassuring her that everything was ok as long as we had eachother. As she wept, burying her face in my chest, I felt a cool breeze caress my face. Once more I looked up at the horizon and, with her by my side, felt something I had not felt in a truly long time.
