The buzz and the click announce that someone is here to see me, meaning someone is here to get their ass handed to them. I sit up and look at the guard with the food. He was burly, yes, but that usually meant slow. I went to get the food and then took the tray and hit his side with it. He hunched over but quickly tried to grab my arms but I put my leg behind his knee but he steps forward landing a lunch to my shoulder. I take the discarded trey and skirt around him. Where turns to face me I hit him in the temple and make him fall to the ground unconscious. I fought the guards outside my cell and run to the room where my suit and gear is. I break into the cell after fighting more guards and use a guard's fingerprint and immediately see the love of my life. My suit. I throw on the suit and wrestle on the gloves. I put in the two earpieces where they go and wrangle on the gloves and boots. I put my equipment where it needs to go and find the nearest window. I run and use my shoulder to break the glass and turn small mid air. I begin to look for an ant hole and eventually find one. I scramble down the ant hole and walk carefully underground. After a few minutes of creeping, I find a black ant, one capable of carrying me on its back. "I need you to carry me to civilization." I tell it and it immediately scurries off. When we resurface, I am in a city around probably around California, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, or Mexico. I crawl out to the surface and doge people's feet, running till I see a store with clothes I like. I wait for someone to open the door and bolt in after them. I crawl around and get a pair of jeans, a maroon shirt with a scoop neck and quarter sleeves, a jean jacket that had the sleeves and hood made out of grey cotton and polyester material, a grey beanie, black high tops , a black backpack with assorted pins, and a pair of grey socks. I stole all this and ran out the rear of the store, clothes in the back pack. I changed in a crappy gas stations bathroom and put my suit in the back pack. I walked out head low, looking at no one. I got a map from a tourist place and saw I was in, not much to my surprise, New Mexico. I'm a small town called Columbus. It was three miles north of the Mexican border. I kept walking until I saw a group of teenagers sitting around in an alleyway. More came to join them so I went and when I was about to enter, a guy saw me. "Hey bonita!" 'Hey cutie!' I translated in my head. "Hey!" I call back. "You new here or somethin'?" "Yea, just got in." "You a runaway?" "Depends, you gonna call the cops?" "Nah, ain't nobody do that round here!" "Cmon! Wanna Coke?" A girl joins in. "Sure." I shrug and reach out to accept it. I knew what Coke was from my dad buying some when he was allowed visitation. I take a swig from the red can and lean back. "So, what's your name?" The girl asks. "Cassie." I reply. "So you got a record Cass?" A new guy asks. "What kinda record?" "Criminal." "Nah, my dad does though. Three burglaries. I kinda take after him, I can get into places." One guy let out a low whistle. "How many did he do and not get caught?" "One, but he confessed." One guy nodded. There were about ten people. About six guys and four girls not including myself. The same girl sits next to me as people go back to how they were acting before. "So anyway, my name is Andrea, that girl's name is Shakira, hers is Mariana, and that one's Sofia." She pointed to each girl in turn and began listing off the boys. "This is Sebastián, Diego, Mateo, Nicolás, Carlos, and Pedro." Also pointing to each boy in turn. I nod and am immediately accepted into their group. Turns out, about ¾ of the group were runaways. I became fast friends with Andrea, who offered me her couch to sleep along with Mateo who was the boy who called me bonita. Around 1am we broke apart and Andrea showed me her home. It was an apartment with one bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchenette, and a living room/dining room. "It ain't much but it's home." She says. "See ya in the later morning." She called over her shoulder. "See ya." I say and fall to sleep peacefully.
