Chapter Six

The woman screams and falls to the floor. Me and the other man put Lily down gently on the elevator floor. I run to the emergency phone and pick it up.

"Hello?!" I yell.

"Hi what is your emergency?" An indian man answers.

"The elevator stopped, we have a woman in here who needs to be rushed to the hospital." I say.

"Wait what?" The man asks, confused.

"A woman. Is hurt." I exclaim.

"Theres an ambulance outside please go make them aware and get us out of here!" I yell, hanging up the phone.

"We need to help her now." I say looking at the man and woman.

"I'm a medical student, maybe I can help?" The man says.

"Yes perfect! First we need to remove the glass." I say. He examines her legs, arms and her knew.

"We need tools. I cant do anything if we dont have any tools." He says sitting down, giving up.

"Maybe I have something." The woman in the corner says emptying her purse.

"She has tweezers, can you use that to pull out the glass?" I ask grabbing them, I hand them to him.

"They could work but I don't know if their sterilized." He says.

"I don't care just take them out!" I yell at him. I watch him sit down beside her and look at her leg. He tries to pull out a piece of glass and it comes out, covered in blood.

I walk back over to the phone and pick it up.

"Hello?" I ask.

"Hi." The same indian man says.

"The ambulance has been alerted, they are heading to the second floor to help you out." He says trying to reassure me.

"But were stuck between the first and second floor!" I say.

"We can't get you out from under the elevator." He says.

"What?" I ask.

"There is an escape hatch on top of the elevator. If you can get out to it we can get you out." He says.

"Why can't you just open the door and take us out that way." I demand.

"Ma'am you are lodged between two floors. Theres nowhere to open the door from." I hang up the phone.

I walk over to the man, he's cleared one of her legs and her knee.

"Hows it going?" I bend down.

"So far so good I need a little longer." He says.

"Ok." I say.

"You whats your name?" I ask the woman sitting on the floor.

"Lindsay." She stutters.

"Im Mike by the way." He says from behind me.

"Ok Lindsay the only way for us to get put is to go through the top of the elevator." I say.

"What?" Mike jumps up.

"Please focus on her." I look at Lily.

"Lindsay I need you to help me get up there." I point to a square-like shape imprinted on the top of the elevator.

"How do I do that?" She asks, hesitating to stand up.

"I don't know give me a boost." I say jumping up, touching the roof for a brief second.
