English Class Short Story!!

Dante's POV

I grabbed Malachi by his wrist again and ran over to the other island, not caring about the long fall and pain that we would experience if one of the bridges broke. I learned to stop caring awhile ago.

"Slow down," Malachi yelled. "We are going to break the bridge!"

I just laughed and kept going. The third island was inhabited by a race called Meif'was. A Meif'wa looks half cat-half human. The island only came into existence about a year ago.

I wonder who the other newbie will be?

I soon found out. We finally came to the Meif'was Newbie Station, Malachi was exhausted. Well, he obviously isn't in shape. I laughed at the thought of someone as well-built as Malachi not being able to run very far. I suddenly remembered why we came over here in the first place. Oops. Welp, better go check on the new guy.

We poked our heads in and looked around. In one of the cots lay another sleeping girl. She had long, light purple hair and tan skin. Her ears were black and the tuft of fur in them was white. She looked, well, kawaii!

Suddenly, she started to wake up.

"Who are you? Nya~"

"Hello, I'm Malachi, and this," He pointed at me "Is Dante."

"Nice to meet you. Nya~ Sadly, I don't know where I am. Nya~..."

"You're on the third island, inhabited by Meif'was"

"You guys don't have ears," The girl said. Then, her tail -much like a cat's- rose from its resting place on the cot. "Or a tail. Nya~"

Yup, a meif'wa for sure.

I've noticed that every Meif'wa has a weird quirk in their speech. A pink-haired girl I know here speaks in third-person, the girl before me says "Nya~" after every sentence.

"Normally, I would ask for your name, but," Malachi stated. "You won't remember yours for a few hours, or even days."

"Oh... Okay. Nya~ Listen, I know it sounds weird, but I think I know what my name is. Nya~"

"Oh?" I asked. Weird. I wonder why...

"I believe my name is," She started. "Michi~Chan. Nya~"

Oh, so her name is Michi.
