Chapter 11

Half term had finally arrived. I was so happy to have two weeks with nothing to worry about. Maggie and I had planned a three day movie marathon and I also had plans with Adam and Laura. I hadn't seen Laura since our cinema expedition so was excited to see her.

We had planned to grab a quick lunch one day as she still had to work and then I was meeting Maggie in the afternoon to commence our marathon.

After a morning spent lying in bed I finally got up and ready to go. I dressed casually and grabbed a quick snack before I set off to the little Chinese place where me and Laura were meeting. She could only come for an hour or so as she was on her lunch break so we had chosen a restaurant close to her office.

I was the first to arrive but it wasn't long before she walked through the door. A massive grin on her face I hugged her before she sat down opposite me. We chatted as we looked over the menu and the waiter took our orders.

"So what's new with you?" She asked as the waiter disappeared into the kitchen. My mind flicked to Adam. We had been on a couple more dates since the movie and while they hadn't gotten any worse, they hadn't really improved either. I was unsure whether to tell Laura about him though, Ben was her brother after all.

After a snap decision I said slowly, "I've been seeing this guy Adam." I wasn't sure how she would take the news but she just smiled a little as I spoke. She didn't seem overly pleased but she didn't seem mad either.

"So you're completely over my brother then?" She confirmed. I had tried not to think about this since starting to see Adam because the truth was I didn't know. Sometimes when I was with Adam I managed to forget about Ben and think maybe one day I could fall for Adam, but then Adam would do something that would make me compare him to Ben.

"I really don't know," I sighed deciding to stick with the truth. "But there's no point wasting my time on Ben, he's over me and it would never happen anyway," I continued not really wanting to talk about Ben. I think Laura got my hint and changed the subject. She told me how she had also started seeing someone. She hadn't told Ben yet because he always became overly protective.

She then moved on to telling me how they were all going on a family vacation together over Christmas. She seemed extremely excited as they hadn't gone away as a family together since Georgia had finished university. I grinned along as she told me about the island in the Caribbean which they were going to. It sounded incredible and I was completely jealous. For Christmas, my family and I normally just stayed at home and celebrated with our extended family. It wasn't anything special but I enjoyed it all the same.

Soon Laura had to get back to work so we paid, said our goodbyes and left the restaurant.

Not long after I stood on Maggie's door step as I waited for her to answer the door. Suddenly the door swung open and she stood opposite me, looking deadly serious. "Let the movie marathon commence!" She cried out loudly as she grabbed me by the wrist and dragged me through to the kitchen. After grabbing all our snacks we settled ourselves onto the couch and hit the play button.

After a hard three days watching movies I was absolutely exhausted. Maggie and I took out movie marathons serious, barely sleeping the whole three days, causing our eyes to become slightly bloodshot. Once home I collapsed onto my bed and fell asleep until late the next day. The day I had another date with Adam.

It was our fourth date and we were going to dinner at a little Italian restaurant about half an hour away from where I lived. Adam picked me up and by seven we were walking up the flower lined path to the restaurant. Adam's sweaty hand was clasped tightly around mine as we entered the restaurant. The whole ride here had been silent because we had quickly run out of things to say.
