Today was Valentine's Day and Alice's birthday plus I have a date with Angus Wood. Alice and Albus would be out together and Malfoy all alone. Why does that pain me? He's my frenemy. I shrug it off as I put on a red dress, black robe, black flats, and my usual jewelry, rose necklace and snake ring. I pull my crazy, frizzy bright red hair into a pull back and leave the rest down.
"Don't you look nice," Alice says sitting on her bed in a gold dress.
"It's just a formal meeting in Hogsmeade and your birthday," I say and smooth my dress and hand her a box. She opens it and pulls it out. It has a picture of our friends and she pulls out the charm bracelet. It has a lion, a quaffle, a dove, and a wand on it.
"Thank you and it's a formal meeting with a boy other than Scorpius," Alice says and stands up as she puts the bracelet on.
"Malfoy, can deal with it. He can have fun without us," I say and grab a bag as we exit to the stairs.
"True but don't you like him?" Alice says and I clear my throat.
"No I don't," I scold as we walk into the common room.
"I'm meeting Albus downstairs you can come with and wait for Angus," Alice offers and I reluctantly follow. Albus is in the Great Hall with Scorpius, chattering, both of them look nicer than usual.
" 'Ello Weasley and Alice," Scorpius says as he hands Alice a new Gryffindor scarf and I roll my eyes.
"Thanks Scorpius," Alice says and smiles."Hello Albus and Malfoy. Cheap gift, Malfoy," I say and look around.
"Scorpius, great to see you, shall we?" Phoebe says and appears next to Scorpius.
"Is this a sick joke or what?" I ask and laugh.
"No Rose, Scorpius is my Valentine," Phoebe says and I burst out laughing.
"Rosie Posey, she's my date," Scorpius says, sternly and I realize he's serious.
"Oh wow," I say and feel an arm link around me.
"Hello Rose," Angus says and I turn to my right and see he's a few inches away from my face.
"Well I'll see you later," I say and Alice hugs me then we sign out with Longbottom and head to Hogsmeade.
I walk next to Angus as he chats about his father's years here.
"He was amazing and with Harry Potter as the seeker, Gryffindor won the cup every time," he says.
"Yea, my father took his place once he left," I say and Angus looks at me like I'm dumb.
"I'm sorry, did I say something," I say.
"No, no, but one of my friends told me he was terrible, I wondered why they even got the Quidditch Cup that year," he scoffed. I look at him clenching my jaw. You've got to be kidding me.
"Have you ever heard of people getting better? I guess you haven't because a first year, my cousin, made the team before you," I say and glare at him. We walk the rest of the way in silence.
"What were your plans?" I ask him.
"Uh go to the Three Broomsticks and that's about it," he says.
"Ok," I say and walk in. We find a table and order two jugs of butterbeer.
"So Rose what do you like to do in your free time?" He asks. He's dumber than a doorknob he should know what I like he is on a date with me.
"Reading, Quidditch, and hanging out with my mates and family," I say and he smiles.
"Sound like fun," he says.
"Tons," I say sarcastically and look at the door.
"I grew up playing Quidditch with my family..." Angus say and blabs about it. I see Alice and Albus go in the nice coffee shop and I sigh.
"So what about your childhood?" Angus asks and reaches for my hand across the table. I recoil and set my hand in my lap.
"Well I grew up playing Quidditch and reading. Every Time the family got together we played. We were all close. But I have a lot to live up to with Ron and Hermione as my parents that's kinda how Albus and I are so close. We both have standards," I say and he nods.
"I've realized something about you," Angus says as our butterbeers arrive.
"What?" I ask and wondering if it's something Scorpius didn't point out.
"You are wearing a snake ring, but you aren't a Slytherin," he says and I frown.
"Yea, Scorpius gave it to me for Christmas. His father gave it to him on his first day and he gave it to me," I say and twirl it around my finger.
"You aren't dating a Slytherin you're dating a Gryffindor," he says and grabs me. He presses his lips against mine and holds me tight. I kick his leg and stand up. I grab my cup of butterbeer and pour it on him.
"I'm not dating a Gryffindor either. I never was and I never will if he's a jerk like you. You care more about your hair than the girl you came here with. You hear that Hogsmeade! Angus Wood cares more about himself than anyone!" I shout though all of the Three Broomsticks.
"Better be lucky I left my wand in my dorm," I lie, pick up my bag and robe then storm out of Hogsmeade. I look around at all the couples. I'm only in third year I don't need a boyfriend. I sit on a nearby bench and twirl the ring on my finger.
" 'Ello Rosie," a familiar voice says and I smile. Scorpius stands alone with his light blonde hair and grey eyes.
"Where's your little date?" I ask and look up.
"She got annoying and I realized, I asked her out of jealousy," he says and sits next to me.
"I hate Angus's guts. I poured butterbeer all over him and yelled in the three broomsticks, after he said we were dating then kissed me, how he's in love with himself," I say and Scorpius laughs.
"I've taught you well," he says.
"I know, if I didn't do it you or Albus would," I say and smile.
"Or James or Hugo or any of your cousins," Scorpius adds.
"Yea," I say and stand up.
"Let's spend Valentine's Day with our friends that we love," Scorpius says and I smile.
"Let's crash a date," I say as we head to the coffee shop. A bunch of 7th years are kissing and then I see Albus and Alice in a far corner. We run over and pull up chairs.
"Oh thank you," Alice says and Albus smiles.
"What?" I ask.
"You don't know how awkward it is with all these couples kissing," Albus says.
"So what happen to your dates?" Alice asks and sips her coffee.
"I remembered I can't stand Phoebe," Scorpius says and we all laugh.
"Angus is a git. He loves himself and talked about himself. Oh and can't forget this one insulted my father and implied I should take off my snake ring. He then said we were dating and he kissed me. Then I dumped butterbeer on him and yelled how terrible he is in The Three Broomsticks," I say and Alice looks speechless.
"Congrats, Rose," Albus says.
"My little Rosie gets it all from me," Scorpius says and I elbow him.
"Let's spend the rest of the day together," Alice says toying with a silver heart necklace as we exit the coffee shop. We all walk back to together, chatting eagerly.
"Thank you," I say and they all look at me funny.
"What for?" Albus asks.
"For being the best friends in the world, Muggle and Wizarding World," I say and Alice looks like she might burst into tears. We all group hug and walk back.
"No one not even Allison or stupid dates can mess this up," Scorpius says and we all nod.
"I have to say this is the best Valentine's Day ever. Not being with a date but being with friends," I say. Allison was right about one thing. We are the best of friends and probably the next golden group.
