One dark and stormy day, a long time ago, a man was stabbed to death inside his house while sleeping in his four-poster bed. He left a wife and a son behind. There was no real reason for the killing, it just happened. That's why Thomas still haunts his old house to try to avenge his mysterious murderer. The Greene's had bought his house thinking that it was lovely. However, the realtor had left out one small detail when he had sold them the house, the fact that it was haunted.
It was a Monday when the Greene family, who consisted of Nick, Marie, and their son Gregory, moved into their new home. They didn't realize something was wrong till that night when the sun had left the sky and was replaced by a bright full moon. It had been exactly 100 years since the old man had died and tonight he was going to have his revenge. The Greene family reminded him so much of his own family. Even if the people in the house hadn't killed him, they would have to pay. Tonight the husband would have to die the same way Thomas had.
"Isn't this lovely dear?" Nick asked his wife as he showed her each room. "The house finally belongs to us!"
"Yes it is Nick. But it feels a little weird in here to me. Is the air conditioning all the way down or something? It's freezing in here!" Marie wrapped her arms around herself trying to conserve body heat.
"No, there must be something wrong. I'll have someone look at it first thing tomorrow morning."
"Okay, we should probably head up to bed. It's getting late and it has been a very long day." Nick said grabbing his beloved wife's hand and leading her upstairs. Inside their room there was a four-poster bed, just like the one Thomas used to have when he was alive. After getting ready for bed, Nick and Marie climbed in.
"Goodnight Nick. See you in the morning. I love you." Marie said.
"Love you too. Goodnight, see you in the morning dear." Nick responded.
Thomas, who was in the room watching the happy couple, thought about what she had just said and snickered. "Not alive you won't. And Nick, you won't ever see her again." He whispered to himself as he floated through the floor to the kitchen below. He grabbed the sharpest butcher knife that he could find and went back upstairs. He would wait for both of them to fall asleep and then he would jump into action.
He was waiting there for an hour and a half, but to him it only felt like five minutes since time was nothing to him anymore. He was sure that they were both asleep since he heard a deep snore coming from the right side of the bed where Nick was and a soft, delicate snore coming from where Marie lay.
Ever so quietly Thomas floated over to the bed and raised the knife several feet above Nick's heart. With one plunge downward he would strike the heart, causing Nick to die instantly. And that is just what he did. There was no screaming in agony and Nick's eyes never opened. To satisfy himself, Thomas stabbed him a couple more times and then sat in the chair.
He would sit there till morning came, and remain there when Marie woke up screaming in horror and called the police. The police would arrive and survey the scene but would find nothing. They would never figure out who killed Nick. Then an ambulance would arrive and take the dead carcass to a morgue leaving his ghost behind. Thomas would awake the brand new ghost and they would start Nick's new life together. They would be best ghost friends forever. Thomas laughed as he thought of this and waited for that glorious moment to come.
