Hunger. It was the first thing that Haliow felt. It clawed at him, forcing its way, until it finally made its way out as a scream. The trees, bushes, and even the sky was laced with a pulsing red for a brief moment. Haliow tried to reach out for any memory, any memory at all - only to find a solid wall blocking him. Nothing.
The ringing seemed to go on forever. But it did stop. If Haliow was asked in the future, he would have said that it should have gone on forever.
As soon as Haliow heard the light steps, he felt drawn to them, as if an invisible cord was pulling him towards it. They were too heavily placed to have been a small animal. Much to his surprise, he knew the only owner of those footsteps - human.
It scared Haliow how he didn't know how fast it took him to reach the pair. All he knew was that it happened far too fast to be possible. Thick trees separated him from the incredulous girl and boy, which confused him. How did it seem like he could hear their hearts beating?
Everything disgusted him about them. The boy did hardly a thing to keep his movement undetected, and that was probably what urged him to do something about it. What happened next was something he didn't understand.
A millisecond later, he was in front of the once confident boy. Time seemed to stop, and he forgot about the girl, despite her obvious screaming.
No. This can't be right.
He ignored any of his doubts. Instinct told him this was right, even though his thoughts told him otherwise. But... Sometimes instinct can be louder than your own thoughts.
All Haliow remembered after that was the sheer satisfaction that came with ripping the boy's flesh, ignoring all the pestering thoughts to tell him to stop.
A/N Hi..
