Zoey was in her bedroom in the morning, sleeping.
The words 'Once More With Feeling' splashed across the screen in the style of an old movie musical.
An old-fashioned alarm clock, the kind with the actual bells, was on the nightstand. The clock hit 7:00. The alarm went off.
Zoey woke, rolling over to glare at the clock. She reached over, picking it up, looking at it.
The overture music was a medley of the musical themes from the rest of the chapter.

Layla was in her bedroom, walking across it, turning to go back the way she had came, grabbing her work clothes, walking out of her bedroom to get into the bathroom.
In the hallway, Dawn ran out of her room, over to the bathroom door, knocking on the door, shifting from foot to foot as if she had to pee.
Layla walked out of the bathroom, in her work clothes, brushing her hair.
Dawn walked into the bathroom.
Zoey was still lying in bed, awake.
