It was already Day 2 at work and I was settling in pretty well. Simone and I had a lot in common so we were always talking. Today, a guy who looked around the age of 16 was at the register on the other side of me. He kept looking at me for some season. Weird, I thought.
"Hey, Simone," I whispered.
"Yeah?" she whispered back.
"Why is that guy staring at me?" I whispered again.
"I don't know, he probably likes you"
"What?! No way!" I accidentally said that bit out loud and got a few glares from the customers and from the mysterious guy who was always looking at me.
"Hey Wayne, my buddy! Good to see you here after so long! You've missed out on heaps! That old woman with the pink jeans buys the cappucino now. And I haven't seen that homeless old man in a while," I heard him say to another guy who had just walked in.
"Yeah, man! And what homeless old man?"
"Oh, you know! The guy who can't speak English fluently"
"Oh, yeah"
"Now get that apron on and start working! We've got 2 new workers"
"I'm not blind, man!"
"Hey you girls!" Was he talking to us? I decided to keep my eyes on the computer in case he was calling out to someone else.
"You, next to me and looking at the computer!" So he was talking to me.
"Hmm?" I said, turning around to the face the tall, blonde guy. My heart was suddenly beating so fast!
"What's your name? And the girl next to you"
"I'm Lauren and she's Simone. What's your name?"
"Hawt," I heard the other guy mutter. Something about him made him look like a rebel. Guess I have to stay away from him.
"Dude, don't. Well, hi Lauren. After work we're heading off to the beach to catch some waves. Wanna join us? And ask your other friend too," the mysterious guy said. He still hadn't told me his name!
"Uhh, maybe, I'll see if I can. Hey Simone, you up for catching some waves with the guys?" I asked.
"Yeah, whatever. I don't really have much to do at home so I'm free," she said as she served yet another customer.
"Ok". I grabbed my cell phone discreetly and texted Christina.
You: Is it ok if I hang out w/ my new frnds aftr work to go surfing? wnt be long!! pls?
She texted back immediately:
Christina Cimorelli: If they're older than 5 u r not permitted to hang out w/ them! jk, if they look scary don't go with them.
You: They're not scary, I can learn how to surf from them!
Christina Cimorelli: Amy is J-E-L-L-Y but u go enjoy urself and dnt be 2 long!
You: aww thx luv ya Chrissy! xx
"Yup, I can go," I said to no one in particular.
"Great, and then we can also get some ice cream"
"Oh, by the way, what's your name?" I asked as I realized I STILL didn't know his name.
"Oh right, I'm Alex"
"Alex? Really? That's my brother's name too!" I laughed.
"Oh, cool. How many siblings do you have?"
"Funny you ask. I have 5 brothers and 5 sisters"
"WHAT?! Tell me you're joking!"
"Nope, it's true!"
"Wow, man!"
"Yeah, my sisters and I sing covers on YouTube"
"Si-Ser-Sermerelly?"
"Cimorelli"
"Wow, that's so cool! No wonder you looked familiar!"
"Ahaha!"
"Oh my gosh, you have a band on YouTube?" Simone asked.
"Yeah!" I replied.
"Wow...that's so cool!"

"Guys, you can go home now. Work is over for today. And I'll expect to see you tomorrow as well, Wayne!" the manager said.
"Alright, come on Lauren and Simone!" Alex said, guesturing for us to take off our aprons and head off to the beach.
"Sure Mark, whatever you say," Wayne said as he rolled his eyes.
"Wait, Lauren and Simone!" Mark called out before we left the cafe.
"Yes?" we asked in unison.
*
All Mark wanted to ask us was how we were settling in and everything. Simone, Alex, Wayne and I walked together as a group to the beach. It was already 6pm and the sun was just setting on the horizon. It was a beautiful sight and I couldn't help taking a picture and posting it on Instagram.
"Oh, you've got Instagram? Follow me. I'm simonexo_98" Simone said as she watched me uploading my photo on Instagram.
"Oh, sure!"
"So, do you guys know how to surf?" Wayne asked us as he gave us a board each. Would he think I was stupid to not know how to surf?
"No, can you teach me?" Simone said before me.
"Me neither" I said.
"Alright, I'll teach you guys"
