Hey, I'm Lilly. This is my story.
Two months ago school started again after the summer holidays. Very tiring just like every year. But I've gotten used to the routine now. Get up at 7am rush to get ready and have breakfast and off to school, the same thing everyday, Monday to Friday.
Today is a special day, it's my birthday! I've turned 16. They say it's a significant year, but i don't feel much older to be honest. Nor do I feel any more responsible, but I guess that'll all kick in later. It's 7am and I've just woken up for school, pleased to see quite a few birthday texts. From Kristen, Ashley and Kylie who are my closest friends, and obviously a few facebook notifications. Nothing too extravagant. After reading all my texts I realised how late I was and rushed to get to the school bus before it left.
First Period: Maths. I walked in the classroom sitting on my usual place. With Kristen next to me. She was texting away to her boyfriend as usual. I was single by the way. Just staring into space waiting for the teacher to start teaching. "Lilly?" I heard a voice behind me, so I turned around. "Happy Birthday" He said with a smile. It was my friend James. "Thanks" I replied with a smile, and turned back around facing the board. It was no secret that I started feeling something more for him. But I kept pushing those feelings down, hoping that they would one day disappear. But they just kept getting stronger. Nobody realized i felt something for him, which was all the better.
"Right class! take out your textbooks to page 55 please" said Mrs.Glynn with her irritating voice. Me and Kristen both sighed and took out our books. I could feel a pair of eyes staring at me as I took my textbook out of my bag. I looked up and saw James looking at me, he just smiled. I smiled back. My heart sunk into my chest. "Keep it together Lil" I whispered to myself. "You talking to yourself?" asked Kristen while laughing at me. I laughed back saying "You know I'm crazy".
After 50 minutes of Mrs.Glynn's boring maths class. The bell finally rang. I threw my textbook and pencil case in my bag and rushed for the door, to get out of here as fast as possible. As i was about to go through the door James stepped in front me "You in a rush?" he asked with a smirk. "Yeah bro, can't stand the air of this classroom" I answered sarcastically. "hmm I get that, let me show you somewhere where you can clear your head and where the air is very clear." He suggested. "We have our next class to go to?" I said. "Who cares?" He said as he laughed. I laughed back. He grabbed my hand and we ran to the back of the school building. "Is this where you find fresh air?" I asked unimpressed. "No, here." He got closer to me, almost ready to kiss me. I placed my hand on his chest, holding him back. "What's wrong?" he asked. "What are you doing?" I asked confused. "I think I'm in love with you Lilly." He said nervously. I stared blankly at his face, looking into his deep green-brown eyes. "What?" I asked even more confused. "You heard me the first time Lilly." said James. "James, this is so random. I thought you liked Ashley?" I asked. He chuckled, "Where did you get that from?", "I don't know." I replied. "I like you Lilly, only you. I thought you liked me, guess that's not the case." He said disappointed and took a step back. "No, no. I do like you. I just didn't expect you to like me back." I said with a smile. James just stood there smiling back at me.
The bell went off again. How is that possible? It's been 5 minutes. It wouldn't stop ringing. I found myself waking up to the most annoying alarm clock ever. I kind of laughed at myself. Of course it's a dream, because in real life James won't even speak to me. 'Tis life. Ps: Now it's really my birthday haha.
