Chapter One: A New Semester

"Elias! Wake up!" a voice said. "We're going to be late for the assembly!"

"Sophia geez... I'm getting up now..." I said groggily.

I thought about what's going to happen in this new semester, especially with a lot of changes in our social lives. Carter and I found out Kayla also had kinetic abilities. We went on a quest to rebuild the Ice Realm, along with Brandon (Kayla's brother) and Chelsea. I got turned into a werewolf... And I proposed to Kayla to be my girlfriend and gave her a telepathy ring so we could speak with our minds when we want to. Basically, a two-way communication.

And the person who was trying to wake me up was my younger sister, Sophia Merritt-Sangster. She also goes to the same school as me. Same with my friends too.

Then, my phone rang. I knew who it was before I even pressed the 'answer' button.

"Yes, Kayla?" I said.

"Elias, I've been outside waiting for you out here since a half an hour ago! What happened to the early bird routine?" Kayla said through the receiver.

"I don't even know! For the thousandth time, werewolf instincts maybe." I exclaimed. "Give me five minutes, I gotta get dressed."

"Sure, but please... hurry up." then she hung up.

I put my phone in my jeans pocket before throwing on a plain t-shirt. Seriously, I don't know what made me wear plain things instead of my usual stripes...

Elias, I know what you're thinking. Kayla's voice said in my head. Just come out here already!

Kayla... patience, please... I sighed.

Finally, after a few minutes of getting ready and packing, I met Kayla outside my doorstep.

"Get your bike, Sophia and Fred already left." she instructed.

I grabbed my bike from the side of the house, where it always was and rode alongside Kayla to school.

For some reason, it felt weird having the second semester before the holiday break. And now, we arrived at the cafeteria to attend this morning's assembly. We usually have assemblies whenever there are new students and other special announcements on special events such as prom and the Valentine's dance.

"Okay, have fun there in Milwaukee there." I heard Carter say. I think he's on the phone with Chelsea...

"Have fun there in Detroit." Chelsea's voice replied.

"Bye." then Carter hung up and spotted us. "What's up?"

"Long distance relationship with Chelsea?" Kayla smirked.

Carter nodded. "Seriously, nothing is the same without her."

"I know right." I agreed with him. "Remember when you made her eat a lot of mints at the same time?"

"Oh yeah, truth or dare." he chuckled. "That was so funny! If time stopped, we'll have fun with Chelsea and know her more."

"All students please quiet down!" the principal's voice echoed throughout the cafeteria.

Everyone, including us, quieted down. But our thoughts didn't.

What do you think she's going to announce first? Kayla asked.

Hmm, probably the Winter Ball. Seriously, our school calendar is full of dances... I replied.

"First off, let me announce a few things to all of you. Next week Tuesday, we have our Winter Ball being held in the gym. Make sure all of you don't forget your student IDs when you enter. You need that to be admitted inside." she announced.

Ha, mine's always in my arm. Kayla chuckled.

What do you mean? I asked.

You can use your kinetic energy to implant anything small inside you. I know it sounds weird and disgusting but... she explained.

I'll try it out. What's the command? I said.

Focus on your ID and just say 'implant' alright? she replied. And I'm not sure how your body will react to that since you are a werewolf now...

Oh yeah, I'm not sure if it's possible for me... At least I don't lose stuff like you do sometimes. I said.

Elias! Kayla exclaimed, while softly punching my arm.

You need to do it harder than that... I smirked.

Geez... she groaned.

"...And the two-week long holiday break will occur the week after that. We also have new students coming in for the semester. Let me introduce them to all of you. We have four of them in total, which seems small but I'm sure they'll make a big difference." she continued.

Amaya will be one of them... I could sense the jealousy in her voice.

"Here they are: Nicole Dianne Grace, Henry Dean Miller, Paige Hazel Taylor, and Amaya Reese Wood." she introduced to four people at the front of the cafeteria, Amaya being one of them.

Oh no... gotta resist that charm of hers... I said, ducking down from the crowd.

Seriously, her perfect looks cannot be ignored. Soon, all of the school will try and ask her what she uses to look pretty, as well as how she got those clothes from. I can't disappoint Kayla...

"Is Elias alright?" I heard Carter whisper to Kayla.

"Sorta..." she replied. It's alright... I feel the same way.

"We also wish one of our students Chelsea Taylor March good luck on her new life in Milwaukee. Some of us might be thinking 'what is it like there?' I'm sure everyone is thinking that sometimes. That will be all. Your first period classes are going to start in fifteen minutes so all of you get ready! The four of you, let me hand out your schedules." the principal waved us off.

The three of us stood up from our table and joined the rest of the students to the lockers. While we were walking, I focused on what Amaya is thinking.

Hmm, first period Algebra 2, second period Health, third period French 2 Honors, fourth period British Literature, fifth period Free time and lunch, sixth period Marine Biology, seventh period Studio Art, and eighth period P.E. Great! she said in her mind.

Oh great... she has two classes with me... I groaned.

"Wait, Amaya does?" Kayla asked in surprise.

"Yes, British Literature and Marine Biology! I'm seriously not going to have a good time..." I facepalmed myself.

"Did you just say British Literature?" she questioned. "If you did, we're all not going to have a good time..."

"That's true," I muttered. "Anyways, you have Calculus for first period?"

"Yes I do, and you have American Literature right?" she replied.

"Yeah. Anyways, see you and Carter at P.E." I said as we neared the fork, where the main hallway divides into the English and the Math wing.

"See you," Kayla smiled before walking away.
