I still wasn't sure what exactly happened. The last thing in this situation I wanted was, to get involved in an accident.
Right now I was standing in the hospital, praying for the speedy recovery of, I don't know who. It sucks to know that somebody is lying down there in the operation theatre serious, all because of me.
"Dec" Someone shakes me. "Can you hear me? Are you alright?" Whoever this person is says and shakes me again.
"Uh um." I mutter while I'm still staring in space.
"Dec, please say something. Your silence is getting me to worry more." The person says.
It takes me a minute to realize that its nobody else, but Sarah. I was more than glad that she was finally here. Thank god I don't have to go through this mental torture alone any longer.
The only person at this moment I knew would come to my rescue was, Sarah. As soon as I reached this hospital I called her up, and being the amazing person she is, she immediately left all her work and came over. I don't know what would I do if she weren't here. I would possibly go bonkers.
"Sarah you're finally here." I say and hug her tight. I could cry at that moment. I was so happy to see her.
She breaks from the hug "First you need to tell me how did you land up in a situation like this. My drive to this place has been crazy thinking about what is it that might have possibly happened." She says with folded arms.
"OK I don't know how to possibly explain this, but I almost killed somebody. While returning back home I was so lost in thoughts, that I did not notice when this guy came in front of my car, and then I banged him. It was pretty bad. I feel so ashamed of myself right now." I explain.
"Oh my God! Heard anything from the doctors yet?" She asks with a worried expression.
"Nope. Not yet. I guess they are still struggling to save his life." I said with a sigh.
"Its going be alright. Don't stress yourself out." She says and rubs my back which genuinely does help me relax a bit.
Well I guess that's the thing about Sarah, even though it was barely a year since we knew each other, she had almost become an inseparable part of my life. I couldn't trade her for the world.
I hope that I could turn back the time
To make it all alright,
All alright for us
I promise to build a new world
For us two, with you, in the middle.
I search my bag looking for my phone. When I finally find it, I look at screen to see who the caller is. Guess who? Of course, its mom!
"Hello" I answer.
"Hey Dec, how's your day going? Any luck yet?" Mom asks.
I was going to say no, but I thought better of it. I knew what the consequences would be. " Umm actually, yes. The deal's gonna be signed tomorrow morning. " I try to sound relaxed.
"Well that's great. I'm so happy for you." She says and I know she isn't a bit happy about it.
"Thanks. I guess I'll talk to you later. I was actually busy packing." I say. I did not in any way want her to know about the situation I was in right now. If she came to know anything about it, she would demand for me to be back as soon as possible.
"Alright dear, take care. Call me soon." She says and hangs up.
I was about to say something, just when I was interrupted by the doctor. "Ms Clarke? You're with this guy in the operation theatre right?" He asks.
"Yes doctor, hows he doing?" I ask genuinely concerned.
"He's actually pretty critical. He's suffered a severe head injury during the accident. I'm afraid this may lead him to amnesia. But, we can't really comment anything about it right now. We'll just had to wait for him to wake up to find that out." He states.
