I hide in the closet, trying to fight the urge to step out and stop the screams coming from my parents. The only thing keeping me back was I had a best friend who needed me, and I needed him. He was sitting right next to me as we watched. He was crying as much as I was. He was practically part of the family. We were about to offer him to make it official when the death eaters barged in. Mom and Dad hid us in the closet, and told us not to come out no matter what. They kept repeating how much they love us over, and over again. Jackson, my "brother", and I were both equally as confused but listened anyway. Looks like it's a good idea that we did.
"Where is she?" A male voice behind the cloak asks.
"My wife's kneeling right next to me, you stupid git!" My dad playfully growls, but in a more serious tone.
"Crucio." My thoughts go crazy when the only thing I can hear are my fathers desperate screams. It takes all of my self control not to cry out, and all of Jackson's strength to hold me back, and keep me from going out there.
"I'll ask you one more time, where is your daughter?" The man asks.
"You'll have to kill us." My mother says bravely.
"Then I'll do just that. Avada Kredava!" There's a blinding green light, and everything goes quiet. I hear someone moving around, but I see my parents bodies lying still and know it's not them. I'm not stupid enough to think they're not dead. I know this isn't some joke where they're gonna wake up, and be like 'surprise', and tickle me until I cry. I look at their rigid bodies, and see their lifeless eyes, and I know for a fact that my parents, Destiny and Jonathan Richards are dead. We wait an hour after the man had left to make sure he was really gone, and we both slipped out. I went to my dad first, he went to mom. Then we eventually switch.
"Autumn, we have to leave. It isn't safe for us anymore." Jackson says trying to pull himself together.
"Jackson, what about my little issue? What happens if a human family adopts us?" I ask, worry filling me as I remember my issue.
"Aut, don't worry about that. I won't let anything bad happen to you. I promise." He whispers in my ear as he pulls me in for a hug.
A couple minutes later we call the number my parents gave us if anything bad ever happened. A few seconds later men in robes appear. They hold wooden sticks, but for once I decide to hold my tongue. I don't want to make the situation worse.
"Which one of you is Autumn Richards?" A man with graying hair asks. I step forward.
"I don't know mate? Which one of us looks like they could be a girl?" We squish our faces together.
"I don't have time for your childish actions." He mutters.
"Yeah, well we don't have time for your bs questions." I can tell they're all appalled by the way I'm talking to them considering I'm six, but I don't care. I just say my parents murdered, and now they're asking all these stupid questions. Honestly, I wish they were the ones lying on the floor dead. Of course, I don't voice my thoughts considering it would make things awkward between us, but still.
"Right, well we'll put you into an orphanage." He mutters, the tension increasing at a steady rate.
"Remember to tell them that we're a package deal. Whatever home he goes into, I go into." I slightly narrow my eyes at him. He just nods his head, and with that I turn to Jackson. "Nothing's gonna be the same is it?" I ask him. He just nods his head slowly. I give him a side hug, and squeeze his hand in a reassuring way. Whatever we go through, at least we'll always have each other.
