the passing signs all were slowly leading to to springfield. my heart was pounding out of my chest. it was like i was in a whole new world, meeting new people. it was all new and i knew i would have to get used to it.
"your aunt lives in a small town. her friend lives in the boon area." deputy laughed. "the boon area" meaning the middle of no where which would probably be private property also. my aunt had given kourtney the land yes, but she didn't live out there with her. something about being in the middle of no where with no one really around scared my aunt. she likes the town rush and noises.

we entered a town named "decatur"
"this is where you aunt lives. it's about 20 minutes away from springfield." deputy said. we drove slowly trying to find her street. finally, we found it. she lived in a pretty big house. it had a porch wrapped around the whole house, and the house was white in color.
deputy pulled up to the front and slowly stopped the car. we both looked at each other. "what are you waiting for?" he asked. i sighed. "my mom." i said and got out of the car.
the cobblestone felt weird under my dull shoes. i made my way up her stairs and to her door where i took a deep breath and rang the doorbell.
it took about only a minute for someone to answer, and it was my aunt. she was pretty tall and had curly auburn hair. she was very pretty and has bright blue eyes and was slim. "oh my god! look at you!" she yelled, and took me into her arms. i was hesitant to wrap my arms around her but i did, feeling the embrace was nice. when she pulled away i forced a smile. "this must be?" she asked deputy, holding out her hand. "deputy." he said smiling, and shaking her hand. "nice to meet you deputy. i'm jillian but i'm sure you already knew that." she smiled. there was silence for a minute and then she spoke again, "well you too. come inside, make you self at home."

as if this place would ever seem like home. her house was giant, but back in my home in new hampshire my house was tiny.

there was a tall brunette male standing in the kitchen with beer in his hand. he smiled a broad smile. "this is my boyfriend, john." aunt jillian said. he didn't ask for a hand shake or anything. "call me uncle john." he patted my shoulder.

"as if" i thought to myself. he probably wouldn't even be here long, so what was the point of calling him uncle?

we all stood in the kitchen, not taking. "well." deputy began. "i have a hotel to check into so i have to go." he said. i panicked. "i think i left something in the car, i'll be back." i told aunt jillian and john.

i shut the door behind me to make sure that no one could hear me. "you have everything, katie." deputy said. i glared at him. "i don't want you to leave me." i pouted. "i'll be at a hotel in the next city over, i won't be far." he said lightly. i stared at the grey sky. "here's my number. if you need me, call me. but for now spend time with your aunt. get to know her more. who knows? you might enjoy her." he smiled and handed me a slip of paper.

i nodded and he started the car. "see you later kiddo. be good." he giggled. i watched as he slid down the cobblestone driveway and into the road.

i grunted and made my way back in the house. my aunt jillian was in the living room. "hey hun. why don't you grab some fresh clothes and take a shower. we will head over to my friend courtney's house to meet her and her boys. she's making dinner and we are having s'mores with a bon fire so dress warm!." she said. i grabbed clothes, makeup, and other essentials and headed to the bathroom. it was huge and very clean. plus, her shower was easy to work. i took off my clothes and hopped in. man did it feel good.
