Raising Trouble

Chapter 1

                So how do I start one of these things exactly? Well I’ll tell you my story until now. It’s a long story so I hope you’re ready for this.

I wake up and open my eyes to find my husband sleeping peacefully next to me. I smile and walk to the bathroom. I step into the shower and get cleaned up for the long day ahead. When I step out I grab my clothes of the counter and start to get dressed and when I’m done I stop and look in the mirror at my long dirty blond hair I think to myself, This is the day. We will find out today.

I walk out of the bathroom to find that Dan had got out of bed. I smell the scent of bacon and walked out into the hallway. I find Dan in the kitchen making French toast and bacon, my favorite. I come up behind him and hug him. At first he tenses up but then relaxes. He turns his head and bends over to give me a kiss and then continues to cook. The phone suddenly starts to ring so I rush all the way over to the other side of the house to the living room and pick up the phone.

“Hello?”

“Hey Ali, I was wondering what time you wanted to meet today?”

“Oh Nat about one thirty if that’s alright?”

“No problem I’ll see you then.” She said. I pick up my phone and walk back to the kitchen. Dan is almost done with the breakfast so I decided to set out two plates for us and waited patiently well checking my phone for emails from my any of my teachers.

I am a college student. I’m in my senior year almost about to head off to law school. And it’s almost end of term and all of my teachers were making us write pages and pages of essays.

I look still no emails so I put away my phone when Dan walked into the room with two plates of food. He was kind enough to place mine right in front of me. I kiss him on the cheek then start to eat my food. When I was done I took our dishes out of the room and cleaned both because Dan cooked.

When I finished I walked back into the bedroom and set out a pair of clothes for Dan. It’s not like he couldn’t have. I just enjoy picking out what he wears for the day. He’s never had a problem with me ever doing that so what the heck. Dan had finished his shower and got out and grabbed the clothes on the bed and started to get dressed for work.

“Ali you need to remember to call Payton ok. Also I have class before work so I took the night shift tonight. So I’ll be home later.” He told me well finishing putting on his shirt and grabbing his laptop bag.  He kisses me good bye and runs out the door.

I sit down on the bed. I get my phone out and scroll down and down until I find Payton Newton. It rings then she picks up

“Hello?” She says in a sleepy tone.

“Hey could you come over at one thirty today?” I ask.

“Sorry I’m going to meet Nate’s parents today, maybe next time?”

“Oh alright tomorrow, I might have some very important news.”

“Ok see you then girly.” I hear a click and then static. I press the end button and grab my laptop bag. It had anime all over it. I have a dozen books as well but lucky they are all online.  I’m studying to become a lawyer so I have to study a ton.

 I hear barking and realize no one let out Louis our pet German Sheppard. Dan bought me him for me on my birthday that was a month ago. He whines a little more so I took him outside and let him potty well also making sure he at his breakfast and drank some water. I look at my watch and realize I have less than a half an hour to get to the lector hall for class.  I pick up Louis because he’s still small and put him inside on his bed.

 I start running for the door grabbing my bike keys and lock the door. I get on my Suzuki I bought myself. I made sure that I had everything I needed then started the bike and went zooming to Creighton. I am a pretty good driver for my bike because I grew up with them. When I make it the Creighton I park my bike and take off my helmet. I run for the lector hall. I slid in when class was just about to start. The professor starts to talk and turns off the light for a slid show presentation.

“Ali.” Katie whispered poking at me. She repeated and repeated until I finally look at her. Katie has always been like this.

“What I’m trying to listen Katie.” I whisper. She then passes a note to me that read. “Today is the day, Right?” Why does she know this? I slid a note back at her. She reads it and writes down something then slides it back. “Nat told me.” Great Nat I guess she also told ash about it.  I write down one last thing and pass it to her. And then she nods to me.

After the long lector was done, I drive my bike to an Arby’s for lunch. I picked up food for four. And put it in my backpack I always have when I ride. I go a little bit and stopped and got off and went into a store and finally bought a pregnancy test. I can’t believe it. I’ve always wanted kids but it just is still a big thing to learn if it was true or not.

It had just turned one thirty when I got to my house and there was one car filled with three people. I sighed and got off my bike and went and unlocked the house for the three of them. I just wanted to have one maybe two people to be here and now I have three. Honestly my luck at times. I set out the food on the table. I picked up my food and ate it. We all talked and goofed off for an hour but I needed to know and I wanted it to be a surprise if it was true for Dan.

I walked away to go to the bathroom and check. One straight line negative, cross is positive, I made sure to buy at least two. They said to wait at least five minutes on both so I put them down and walked away and cleaned my hands. I went out and checked my phone. My English teacher sent me the topic of the paper, Any British author. I walk back into the bathroom and look at them. Both read positive. I screamed at the top of my lungs.
