"So does that mean he likes me?" I whispered to myself for the hundred time. I highly doubt cocky, arrogant Ignazio would like me of all people. He was probably just saying that so I could take my mind off things knowing fully well I'd be thinking about it. "Asshole," I whispered out loud, but it was working that was the only thing I could think about. "Dios Mio... This boy..."
Three hours after Kat and Aiden returned accompanied by some old man that appeared really good looking despite becoming of age. No I am not checking out grandpa... Just simply stating facts. As his form drew nearer to me I saw he had the same color eyes as me, not only that but my hair too just his became tainted a bit with full grown grey strands.
"Kat, who is that?", I questioned cautiously as everyone in the room stared at me with uneasy looks, except for Ignazio... He looked upon me with concern and the ability to if he should ever need to jump in front of a bullet just to protect me. He was a sweet, unusual taste to my soul.
"Dria this is your grandfather." Kat said momentarily.
"My grandfather?", I laughed because this had to be some sick joke and I was not in the mood for pranks.
"Kat, my grandfather died before I was born from a heart attack. I don't even have a picture of him. This man could be anybody; please don't waste my time with games."
"What makes you think I'm joking?", Katherine glared at me with all trace of humor invisible to her face. My gaze shifted to the man as he walked closer to me ready to speak up.
"Alexandria she is telling the truth. I am your grandfather. Alex, look at me... We have the same eyes, hair... Tell me you don't see any similarities? My death was faked a long time ago. I am here for a purpose, not to cause bewilderment and uncertainty in your life. The time has come."
"Time for what?", I asked.
"Your destiny. You are not the average girl you think you are Alex... You're special. You possess qualities man would only dream about having, that scientists strive hard to concot in a laboratory replicating the idea of the supernatural." Apparently he took the confused look on my face as a advancement to carry on with his speech.
"Haven't you thought that your random blackout couldn't have been normal after a while? It's happening; the transition is taking full course. You were born like this Alexandria, with abilities that your parents tried to hinder you and protect you from."
I cut him off - " Wait, what? My parents? Protected me? They don't care about me... It's why they shipped me off out here! They could have dealt with the suspension like any other parents and ground me but they just had to take it to the extreme and got rid of me on the whole. The only thing they're protecting is their reputation against they reckless, irresponsible daughter."
"No Alexandria no... Your parents never got rid of you because of fear of their reputation. They needed to get you somewhere safe. You weren't safe where you were anymore. Your mother started to notice you were being followed and so when you got into trouble it was the perfect time to make an excuse to get you somewhere far away. Your mother loves you." Tears threatened to escape my eyes as I was devastated by this awful truth. I blamed her the most and hated her for what she had done, not knowing she had been doing everything she did out of love and care for me and my wellbeing.
Kat slowly approached me and wrapped her arm around my shoulder trying to give off comfort. "Babe I know it's hard now and nothing makes any sense and we've kept all these revealtions from you but it was for your safety." I turned to look her in her eyes. "You too? You knew about all of this and didn't say anything? Is that why you came all the way down here with me? Not to take over the world with your best friend but to babysit me? Seriously?"
The old man responded, "Child do not find fault with her... She hid this because she was promised to and your safety is first priority. Do not push away those who you can trust and is genuine to you. Forgive your friend." The entire room was left silent as I stared around with tears running down my face as all this was really happening right now. Everything I've ever known has been a lie.
"Wait, you've told me all this but you haven't told me what am-", I couldn't even get to finish my sentence before a loud explosion blew up our dorm.
Kat yelled as we all hurdled to the floor, "We have to get out of here now! They know she's here!" Followed by my grandfather's voice, "Come, everyone follow me and stay low." I had become so numb I could have barely felt when Ignazio grabbed my hand as grandfather led us out of the building. Someone was trying to kill me.
