(This is my first book so bare with me and please forgive any mistakes. Anyways, I hope y'all enjoy)

Laila looked behind her to see if the beast was behind her but all she could see was darkness. She had been running for who knows how long and was tired. She came to this forest in hopes of an adventure and she got one. She just never expected this.

*Two months ago*
"Laila! Get your butt up before I come up there!" Yelled Jenny, Laila's mother.

"Mom I have like 10 more minutes!!" Laila replied.

"I don't care how many more minutes you have, get your butt up! You're gonna be late for school!"

"Ugh fine!"

Laila got up from her bed only to find her ten year old brother, Ryan, watching her from her doorway.

"What do you want?" Laila sneered.

"Did you hear??" Ryan asked excitedly.

"Hear what? And you're in my room because...?"

"Mom's making us go on a camping trip!"

"What..." Laila groans. This can't be good, she thinks.

"Yeah that's right, you're both going to a camp that I used to go to when I was y'all's age and I don't want to hear any complaints about it Laila. You're both going and thats that," Jenny says from the hallway.

"Mom I don't think I can make it I've got things to do."

"Oh? And what are these important things you need to do?"

"I have to sleep, eat, and I have to get caught up on all my shows. Plus school isn't even out yet. When are we going on this trip?"

"After school is out. I'll give you a few days to pack but you'll be staying most of the summer. And I'm sorry to say it, but you won't be sleeping in, eating every second of the day, or catching up on your shows. You're going and thats it. It will be a good experience for you and your brother."

"But mom summer is a time when I can be myself and not worry about school or anything. I can do what I please and enjoy my young life while I can."

"Well this summer is gonna be different," Jenny says, "you'll thank me when you're older!"

"I really doubt it," Laila says under her breath.

Laila loves her mother very much and knows that to raise two children, without any help, is hard. She wished her father would've been the man he was supposed to be and actually take care of his family like a real man was supposed to do.

"Anyways, y'all better get going to school, I don't want y'all to be late."

Laila sighs and gets out of bed to get ready for the day. She puts on makeup, not very much but enough to enhance her natural beauty. She knows she isn't as beautiful as a model but she knows she isn't the worst looking creature on earth. Her blonde hair and baby blue eyes are what really get her attention from guys but she thinks they're all the same. All immature idiots.

"Mom," Laila says as she enters the kitchen, looking for some breakfast, "why do I have to go? I'm 16 years old. Camping is for babies."

"You'll have a great time, trust me and people your age go there too."

"Yeah whatever. If I die just know it's your fault because you didn't heed my warning."

"Sure thing sweetie," Jenny laughs.

(And that is it for chapter 1. Vote, comment, idc just let me know if its ok. It'll get better i swear lol)
