Chapter 17 - Past Lovers

After about another half hour of waking we finally arrive within the borders of the Fae. However it takes about another hour to actually get to the Fae castle where Jane stays. Jane gives us a quick brief tour then we all go to bed in separate rooms.

The castle is gorgeous and huge. It has plants everywhere and windows. It's very decorative and colorful. It smells of nature and water. My room has one single pink bed. The walls are a light green and there's a single window next to the bed. The closet is filled with clothes and Jane said that I could wear any of them.

I'm in Forgotten Territory where I was before we went on this trip. Before me are five children about the age of ten. Three boys and two girls. Two of the boys are Chase and Matthew and I don't know the third. The two girls are Lacey and Jane. They're all laughing and throwing chips at each other.

Jane jumps up and runs to Chase to tap him on the shoulder. "Tag! Your it!" She giggles then runs away.

Chase laughs then chases after her. The rest of them laugh and run away. My body without control moves toward Chase and Jane. They have ran outside into the cold snow and they're laughing laying on the ground.

"You're funny," Jane rolls onto her side to face Chase.

He laughs and says "I know I am."

They share a couple more laughs before it goes silent. "I like you Chase," Jane says while blushing.

He smiles and says "I like you too."

My eyes quickly flutter open. Instantly a pit of jealously grows in my stomach. That was seven years ago, I tell myself. I roll onto my side and sunlight peaks through the window. It's nine in the morning. Since I'm already awake I decide to just wake up.

I roll out of bed and take a quick shower. My reflection looks plain and I feel ugly. I decide to French braid my side bangs and pin it back. My outfit is a floral short sleeve dress with black leggings and brown ankle boots. I shake my thoughts back and just head downstairs.

A faerie male worker is already making breakfast and Chase is helping. They look like they're making waffles with some fruit. "Do you need any more help?" I ask and it's clear to see they didn't know I was there.

"You actually woke up early?" Chase smiles and teases playfully.

"Haha," I tease back.

He chuckles then says "that's Melorion."

I smile politely. "Nice to meet you. I'm Bree."

"So I've heard," Melorion extends his hand. "Very nice to meet another princess," his dirty blonde hair falters a little out of place as he bends down.

I shake his hands. "Thanks."

Chase and Melorion finish making waffles while I set up the table. I set down six plates and six forks. By the time they finish only Matthew has woken up. I'm hoping Jane doesn't come down right away.

"So hey, are we going to have like a funeral or something for the guards that died last night?" Matthew asks eyeing the food.

"Since they were close to Annabel, the Queen, yes we will," Melorion answers. "We're having it Saturday and we're hoping you all can attend," he looks at me and winks with his light green eyes.

If we stay until Saturday then it'll be two weeks we've been traveling. We would only have two weeks left to get back. Chase and Matthew are waiting for me to answer. "Um, sure if everyone is fine with it."

"I'm down for it," Matthew says as he sits down to eat. Chase agrees with him too. Great.

To be honest, I don't really want to stay here with the Fae for a week. I don't really like Jane and I've heard stories about the Fae.

Back in Colina I've heard that they're really manipulative because they can't lie. They can trick you into doing whatever they want. They're also really smart and can find things out really easily. But full Fae usually don't have any special abilities like immortals and warlocks and witches. Everyone in Colina can have some sort of magic but not powers like the immortals.

I take a seat next to Chase and begin to eat. "So Bree," Melorion starts. "Annabel wants to meet you and Chase today."

"Okay," Chase says then looks at me. "We can go after this if you want."

I nod. "I'm fine with that," I'm actually kind of happy because then I won't have to see Jane for awhile. I keep thinking back to the vision of Chase and Jane and jealously just grows within me.

Melorion leads us outside of the part of the castle where Jane stays. Jane had like a separate house across the castle. Outside the sun is shining bright but it's still chilly. There's a fountain squirting clear crystal blue water and lily pads in the water. There's birds chirping and trees and plants everywhere. The smell from inside is almost the same as outside. I have to admit, this place is beautifully stunning.

Matthew walks in front of us. "Do you think the Seelie Queen will be nice?" I ask whisper to Chase.

He shrugs. "Probably if she wants us to stay for the funeral."

Melorion leads us into another part of the castle. It has royal red carpet and decorative walls. There's still plants in here and it still smells like outside. He leads us into a room with Royal Thorne in it. On it sits a girl with long curly red hair and bright light green eyes. It's not the green in Chases eyes, it's less stunning and more natural.

"Bree and Chase I'm assuming?" Annabel asks as she steps off of her Thorne. Melorion quickly bows down then exists the room.

"Yep," Chase answers causally. I laugh inside how Chase is just causal and Annabel is all serious.

"Well very nice to meet you both," she smiles and extends her both her hands so we can both shake them.

"You too," we both say at the same time and smile.

"I've heard a lot about you two. I'm so happy I can finally meet you guys," Annabel sees the confused look on our faces then continues to explain. "Well obviously I know about you, Bree, because you're well, the princess of Colina. And you Chase, because of Rose."

"Wait, you and Rose are friends?" Chase asks looking confused.

"Yeah. Rose sometimes comes to visit me," she pauses. "So anyway will you guys stay for the funeral?"

Chase and I look at each other and nod. "Yeah we'll stay," I say.

"Great!" She claps like a five year old excitedly. "You guys can just stay at Janes place."

"Thank you," I say.

"Yep. Anyway I got to go do things, I'll see you too around," Annabel waves goodbye before going off.

Chase and I exit to room. "That's good she's not crazy," I say and we laugh.

"You know what we should do?"

"What?" I ask turning my head to look at him.

"We should explore Fae territory. I've never been here," he looks around.

I smile then think about getting in trouble. I want to go with him but I don't want to get in trouble. I've always been a good girl. "We should but will we get in trouble?"

He laughs. "I doubt it. And even if we do the worst that'll happen is a lecture or something."

I laugh and agree with him. He takes me by the hand and we lightly run out of the castle like two children about to play hide and go seek.
