"Jann, it's time to wake up. Just go back to sleep after breakfast!!" My mother yelled from downstairs.

I looked at my phone to check for the time, "ugh, it's only 7:30 in the morning!", I grunted and tried to cover my head with a pillow. As I was about to fall back to sleep, my mom yelled again.

"Don't let me go up there and drag you down here child, wake up!!!!! Your breakfast is getting cold! It's bad to let the food waiting!!!" My mother continues her long lecture about how the early bird catches the worm etc.. and so I decided to just stood up and get my a.ss down to the kitchen.

"Morning, mom," as I sat down the counter while yawning.

"Good morning, sweetie! I'm going to meet up with your aunts and cousins, do you want to come and join us?" Giving me a big hopeful smile while handing me a plate of bacon and eggs.

"sorry mom, I can't leave the house today and risk the chance of missing the call" I shook my head instantly. "You know how important this is to me. I promise I'll go next time!" I smiled.

Today is the day that I will hopefully receive the call from a university in Australia that i applied for a couple of weeks ago. My anxiety level is so high I've been tossing and turning trying to get some sleep but failing miserably for several nights now, resulting to waking up really late in the afternoons with a furious father scolding me of how lazy and useless I am.

My mom nodded, "it's okay hon, I understand! Besides, I have a feeling that you got it already anyway! So don't stressed too much, ok?"

I gave my very supportive mother the biggest grin ever. "Thank you mom, you're the best! By the way, where's dad and Katherine?" Katherine is my little sister whom I have a love-hate relationship with because of her annoying bratty-spoiled attitude.

"Your father drove Katherine to school and went straight to the office after. So you're going to be alone here today. Are you sure you don't want to come?" As she grabs her purse and keys.

I nodded once again while I munched on my breakfast. She bids me goodbye and left some money if ever I decided to grab some lunch out later.

I'm Jann fowler, 23 year old girl from Manila, Philippines. I have a long black hair, chinky asian brown eyes and petite. It's been over a year since I graduated college, still unemployed and broken-hearted from a really bad no label relationship. I seriously have no idea what to do with my life. All I know is that I desperately want to move out of the country and start fresh, away from all the toxic people in my life. Until one afternoon, I stumbled upon a page saying "study and work in Australia". I immediately had a light bulb moment! And took it as a sign to start moving forward and just leave everything behind. All the pain and the baggage of my past relationship had brought me. You can probably say that I'm the kind of person who ran away from her problems most of the time and I believe that's the only thing I'm good at.

I was startled with a loud rings coming from my phone upstairs. I gasped and run quickly to get my phone. An international number flashed through my screen, I let out a huge breath before I answer the call trying to calm my nerves but I failed miserably.

"Hee.. He.llo?" I stutter. Great way to impress my future uni!

"Hi, this is Mrs. Christine bartholomew, nursing department counselor of Monash university Australia. May I speak with Miss Jann fowler?"

"Yes, this is she." I answered nervously

"Oh hello I'm just calling regarding your application. You can start finalizing your requirements and payments as soon as possible. I am pleased to tell you that you are accepted in the nursing program in Monash University. Congratulations! If you have any inquiries you can just email me. I've sent you a checklist of the things you need to submit along with pamphlets regarding the housing accomodations."
