☞ the cold consumed him
he cowered in the alley's corner
he watched as the people came and went
he couldn't help but wonder
if he hadn't left his home
if he hadn't left his family
would they still be alive?
to his thoughts he dozed off
at some point
in his deep slumber
he felt a soft blanket
drape over his weak frame
mom?
he pondered
his eyes shot open
his mother's warm smile
was what welcomed him
slowly it began to fade away
rationality sunk in
for a mere second
