That morning, Shadow and I got the kids dressed and the GUN agents cane by and took them to school. So it was just Carter, Shadow, and I in the house.
I was in the basement doing laundry when I began to smell something HORRIBLE.
It smelled like rotting meat! I gagged and ran upstairs.
"Oh my gosh, that stinks!"I yelled. Shadow came in and walked to the fridge. "What did you say, (Y/n)?"he asked.
"The basement smells like a meat locker that hasn't been turned on in weeks!"I said. "Really?"Shadow asked, raising an eyebrow.
I nodded. "Go see for yourself!"
"I'll just take your word for it,"Shadow said.
Carter walked in. "Hey, what's wrong? I heard yelling,"he said. "The basement smells like shit. Like something died down there,"I said.
"That's strange. We don't have rats so I have no idea how it'd get like that,"he said.
I shrugged. "Me neither but I have a load of laundry to do and I don't want to go back down there,"I said, folding my arms.
"I'll do it for you, whiny baby,"Shadow said. He walked over to me, pet my head, and walked into the basement.
"I'll look into it in a while. Maybe it's just a bad sewer pipe leak,"Carter shrugged.
A sewer pipe leak wouldn't smell like that. It'd smell like straight up shit. Poop. Doo doo. Feces. Any other word that means poo.
I sighed. "I'll just have to find another way to do laundry,"I mumbled.
Carter smiled,"Don't worry. I'll fix it soon. You'll be able to use the washing machine and the drier again."
I smiled. "Thank you. But for the mean time, I might as well get some other things done,"I said, walking out the kitchen.
I walked upstairs to the kids' room. I cleaned up their toys. But as I was cleaning, I found something strange.
I haven't noticed it before but there were three loose floor boards. They made a squeaky noise when stepped on. The kids probably didn't notice it either. A rug was placed over them.
I'll show Carter later and see what he says. Probably not a big deal.
After cleaning up the toys, I went to my room. I pulled on some warm clothing and walked downstairs.
"Where are you going?"Carter asked. He was sitting on the couch. "Just going for a walk outside. Since I have nothing else to do,"I said.
He nodded. "Be safe,"he said.
I walked to the front door, opening it and walking out.
It was freezing, as usual, but it's nice taking a walk every once in a while.
I trudged through the snow. Snow began to gently fall from the sky.
I sighed, watching the condensation.
I smiled a bit.
I remember how Rouge and I used to go out all the time during the winter and pretend to smoke.
It's weird how as teenagers we always found that hilarious.
I kept walking through the snow until I came upon a shed. It was very old and looked as if the roof were about to cave in from all the snow piled on top.
I'm feeling kind of adventurous.
I kicked open the door to make sure the roof wouldn't topple on me. It creaked but it didn't do anything else. I cautiously walked inside.
On the molding, decaying, wooden walls, hung all sorts of things.
Old, rusted tools and jars with mysterious substances inside of them.
I picked up a jar with my gloved hand and examined it. The liquid inside was a dark brown color.
No telling how old this is.
I placed it back on the shelf. After a while, I walked out again and looked at the shed once more.
I walked away from the shed and walked all around the place for about an hour. After that, I walked back inside.
"Hey, you stayed out for a long time,"Shadow said, walking towards me with a basket of clothes. "Yeah. Thanks for doing the laundry,"I smiled. Shadow kissed my head.
"Welcome. It's the least I could do, with you cooking and all,"he said, walking over to the couch.
I slinked off my jacket and boots. "Hey where's Carter?"I asked Shadow.
"I think he's down in the basement trying to figure out where that smell was coming from."
I nodded, walking over to the couch and plopping down.
"I swear, I never want to go down there again if it smells like that,"I sighed.
Shadow chuckled softly as he folded one of Haze's shirts.
"It wasn't that bad. Some how, it smells familiar. But I can't remember what the smell was,"he said.
I gave him a questioning look. "You've smelled that before?"
He nodded. "Did you forget that I'm a GUN agent? I've done tons of things."
I sunk into the softness of the couch.
"Well, whatever it is, I just hope it's gone soon."

Okay. So this was a little foreshadowing here. If you can guess correctly, I shall give you a cookie. Sorry this is so late. I haven't been myself this year. But I promise I'll update as much as possible.
