"You're beautiful, Solaris. That's why I named you after the most beautiful thing ever created... the Solar Universe..." her voice trails off as her gaze drifts from the face of her baby girl, to the face of the moon surrounded my millions of stars.
"You're beautiful too, Mama," the little girl takes her mothers hand and leans her left cheek into her palm, but recieves no reply.
"Mama?" She leans in to get a better look at her mothers face in the candle light, but still no reply.
"Mama!" Her heart beat rises faster as panic begins to set in and worry begins to take over.
"It's time to go, Mija," A grief stricken young man gently takes the little girls hand and begins to pull her away.
"Not without Mama!" She twists her arm, trying to remove his grip, but he's so much stronger.
The mans heart wrenches at the sound of his daughters plea's as she begs him not to leave and to help her mama, but he knows that there is nothing they can do.
She was already gone.
The Holy Man enters the room with some other members of the community to help bless and prepare the body for burial. As soon as the man has his daughter out of the room, they shut the door.
The girl ceases her struggling, and results to tears as her father picks her up and carries her to the living room where they sit by the fire, weeping and holding each other.
The girl stares at the fireplace and begins to grow so tired that her sobbing wanes away. The last thing she remembered of that night was seeing little people dancing with scaly beasts in the flames.
Two months later, the girl will loose her father to a sword in the chest by no fault of his own.
And Suddenly, she didn't find the universe as beautiful as her mother had always said it was.
