It begins with a toybox
So small, and yet so vast
Possibilities are endless
Until aside, is it cast

Then came plain boxes
Full of all my stuff
Unpacked and repacked
As the going got rough

Next was a big box
Full of unsaid words and tears
A sandbox for my father
A realization of my deepest fears

After that was a little box
Inside, a promise to me
To spend our life together
My love as his only fee

The box after that
Held a life I helped create
But sadly, it was not for long
To bury her was my fate

The boxes that followed
Full of papers and regret
A seperation of two people
Was not something I could forget.

Cylinder boxes became more frequent
Told they'd open happiness' door
But after years and years of taking them
I could take it no more

So I took the whole box of the happiness
In my hand, as many as I could fit
I threw back my head in one big gulp
And hoped that was the end of it

Yet, I awoke in a blinding white box with doctors
I was alone once again
Wishing I could go back
To where it all began

It began with a toybox
So small, and yet so vast
Possibilities were endless
Until aside, it was cast
