Chapter 8

We all hurried to the lot were Darry said Sodapop,Steve,Roxie,and Two-bit were. "What happened?"I asked. "Well Sodapop and I,"Roxie was trying to tell us what happened. "Roxie don't," Soda said trying to talk to Roxie.

"Both of y'all don't talked until we get y'all checked out." Darry said softly to Soda and Roxie.We hurried to the hospital. I could tell that everyone was shaken up about this mess . Even Blaze considering how much me and Dally talked about them.

"So does anyone know what happened?" Dally said impatiently "Me, Steve, and Two-bit were just walking and I heard Sodapop yell help and when we got their we found them hurt really bad but we caught those Socs that did that to them." Darry said getting mad.

Then the Doctor came to us and said that we could see them Darry and I came in first then the rest of the gang came in. "So what happened Soda?" I asked "Well, Roxie and I were walking home and a red mustang came rolling up and their was four or five of them we tried to fight back as much as we could." Soda said tearing up.

Then I saw Roxie waking up. She saw Sodapop tearing up so she went over to him to comfort him. The nurse said that they will be ready to go in a few days.

We could tell the Socs were were trying to tell us something but we were not sure what. "We have to get back at those Socs."Dally said. "Dally we don't."Darry said back "Come one they hurt your kidbrother and his girlfriend bad and you still will not do anything."Dally said back.

"Dally has a point Darry."Soda said "Fine but after you two get better." Darry gave in. We left Sodapop and Roxie there and we went home. The next two days were kind of boring without Soda there.

We headed up to the hospital to pick up Soda we picked up Roxie too because she is not wanted at home. "Soda you are going to stay in bed unless you are getting something to drink, using the bathroom, watching TV or getting food you understand me?" Darry said "Yes sir."Soda said jocking. "Roxie we have a spare room that you can have if you want the same rules too."Darry said

"Are you kidding me? We aren't gonna do anything. I'm not that bad. Don't you trust me. I know that I'm new but I'm not that type of greaser who does that." Roxie said "I am sorry that you felt that strong about it." Darry apologized "Its alright you did not know." She said back. We got home Roxie put her stuff in mine and Soda's room. I got the guess bed room I thought it was better than sleeping on the couch.

The rest of the gang came in. "So when are we going to get those Socs back?" Dally asked "I don't know Dally we literally just brought them home let Roxie get settled in." Darry said back "Let's get that Cherry girl to tell them that we are wanting to start another rumble."Dally suggested. I stared at him for awhile. "You okay kid you are starting to look like Johnny." Two-bit said

"Dally I am not sure that is a good idea. Ponyboy was devastated after the rumble with Johnny dying you pulling that stunt I don't think it is a good idea." Darry said. Then Dally pulled me to the side in a nice way I have never seen him do that before.

"Ponyboy can you do this please do this I know the last time we had a rumble with the Socs Johnny died and I faked it,but they hurt your brother and his girlfriend really bad. So what you say are you going to do it for Johnny?"Dally said kindly and for the first time I could see the care in his eyes.

"Yes I will do it," I said pausing "I will do it for Johnny." "Great let's go tell the others." Dally said smiling "Guess what Ponyboy is on bord." Dally said smiling. I was nervous I have not talked to Cherry since Johnny was in the hospital. The next day me,Dally,&Two-bit were in the street. Blaze and Steve stayed with Roxie and Sodapop.

While we were walk in the street and I saw Cherry Valance in her stingray. I looked at Two-bit and Dally and they gave me a look that sent me over there to her. I had a funny feeling about it luckily she was driving slowly. "Cherry I need to talk to you." said to only where she could hear me. She pulled in to an ally Two-bit and Dally followed us.

"So what do you guys need to talk to me about?" She asked me. "Well some Socs hurt Sodapop and his girlfriend Roxie really bad. They practically almost killed them." I said "And you want me to do something?" Cherry suggested "Yes,we want you to tell the Socs that we," I paused to look at Dally and Two-bit "that we want another rumble for almost killing my brother and his girlfriend." I finished with a stern look in my eyes.

"Sure I will. I think that they went to far this time." Cherry said back. We were all glade she said she will get back to us with the date and time. We got back to my house. Soda and Roxie seemed like they were feeling better. Blaze was doing Roxie's nails and Steve and Sodapop were watching TV. We told them about what we talked to Cherry about they were glade about it.
