A high pitched ringing tone is buzzing behind my skull. I press the palm of my hand against my temple and groan. I sit up and open my eyes. I look around and notice I am in the middle of the road. I quickly stand and stumble my way onto the side walk. My head pounds and my eyes water as I loose the contents of my stomach on the ground.
I breathe heavily for a moment staying crouched down on the ground. I trail my eyes upwards and manage to shakily stand. I lean against the building near me.
I look around and notice a few cars stopped dead on the street. I look further and see the street light changing from red to green, but none of the cars move.
I take a shaky step forward and then a few more. My knees wobble and I fall onto my hands and knees. I hiss in pain and pull my hand up seeing I skinned palms. I stand up again and my shaky steps turn into steady strides.
I look around and see no one. Odd. This is a huge city usually people would be buzzing around like bees. I try to hear anything but nothing but the wind howling between the buildings. I take a deep breath and cup my hands around my mouth.
"Hello?" I yell, I hear it echo down the empty street. I lower my hands and do a slow 360. I feel my breath quicken as I see nothing moving. I walk quickly walk down the side walk calling out into the empty air.
I start running. I stumble on the un even side walk but continue down the streets looking back and forth. Nothing. No one.
I fling open a door to a building. I run into the empty lobby and towards the elevators. I think I have been in here before because I get a faint feeling that I know this place.
I hit the elevator button and the doors open immediately I wait impatiently for it to rise and pace back and forth in the small space. I press my palm to my head trying to will away the ever pressing head ache. The elevator digs and I push the door open and run up to the roof.
I burst through the metal doors and rush to the edge of the building. I do another 360 turn around in the bright sun. Nothing is moving. No one stands within the streets, and all around the outer reaches of the city a thick black wall surrounds me. Its as if someone has censored out the city.
Worst of all I am utterly alone.
