The sunlight shined through the window and brushed across my face. I jumped out of bed and screamed in pain. I forgot about the burns on my face from last night, I didn't realize how sensitive it would be. As I climbed out of my bed, and placed my feet on the floor to only to feel needles of ice pierce my feet. The cold air scrapes my face as my bed begs of warmth and comfort. I get up out of my bed in pain, staggering throughout the darkness walking towards the bathroom. Out of the darkness I searched for the light switch but I completely forgot about the wound on my hand. Bright light shoots through out the room, and once my eyes adjusted to the light I started limp my way towards the sink blood oozing from my arm. The sink fills with blood as I washed my wounds under the warm comforting water. I examine the cuts and gashes upon my arms trying to figure out how I'm going to bandage up the wounds. I don't want anyone to know what I had done the night before. I turn towards the medicine cabinet to only feel a sharp pain running through my leg. Extreme pain putting me to my knees, I turn in horror to see the glass shard sticking right through my leg. I can't believe it, it's huge, the shard was about a 6 inches long and was sticking out like a limb from a tree. I didn't know how to respond to that, and only felt sear shock. I looked up, as I reached for the cabinet. I open it with all my strength just to see everything fall out and land on my leg. I reached the gauze afraid that by moving, that the glass shard would go deeper into my leg. I grab the shard and carefully pull it out of my leg. I couldn't do it. The pain, the fear, and worry, everything running through my mind but I still did it. I finally felt relief for most of the part, it felt so good and then all of a sudden the blood shot out like a faucet has been opened. I have to move quickly to close this wound the amount of blood that was rushing and pouring all on the floor was unbelievable. I wrap my leg as tight as I can. The tourniquet works well enough to stop bleeding, but the shard had left a hole in my leg. On closer inspection the wound was about two inches long running halfway down my leg it stopped about my calf and shot out down towards my ankle. First thing that came to my mind was that I would need give myself stitches, I begin to form the surgery I got the needle and thread so nervous, so scared, trying to get the stupid thread through the needle. As my hand was shaking I finally got the thread through the needle. I begin to clean the wound, first I wrapped cotton around the wound after which I applied gauze. How do I get the gashes on my arm I though to myself, and then I noticed a little bite mark I have on my right arm. So I had to apply some disinfectant on that because I didn't know or remember where I got that from. Trying to prop myself to my feet trying to stand up. I stagger towards the sink and look at myself in the mirror " Where did I go wrong, John where did I mess up?"
I limped out of the bathroom and looked into the room that I slept in. The light was entering the room just bright enough to see the contents lying around the room. The bed was big enough for two, the bed sheets were on the floor. The rocking chair has my cloths draped over it. I put on my pants, my old white shirt and a tie. Looking at the dresser I see my badge, Detective John Henderson. I open the door and grab my umbrella to uses as a cane. As I walk down the stairs I began to think about how hard I would need to work to keep my friend's name held high. I finally reach the bottom of the stairs I and start to head to the cabinet in the kitchen to make some coffee. I began to brew the coffee and could smell the aroma in the air, it smelled so good reminding me of the good times. When it was done I poured a cup of coffee. As I put my lips on the cup I could feel warmth of the coffee running down my throat, and just thinking to myself that it is all over now. I sat down at the table and ate the Chinese food that was on the table from last night. Midway from eating my meal I noticed the voicemail box is on I stand up and went to the phone.
"Hey, John this is Bruce, I'm just calling to see if you got home safe, meet me at the police station. We got a case that we have to deal with today other than that talk to you soon. Be safe my friend bye."
