I got into my car and drove home to get my brother. Once he was finally ready, we went to our dad's. Well, technically our grandmothers. Our father and our uncle live with their mother, our grandmother. It's really pathetic if you think about it. Two grown men who could live on their own if they tried. Better yet, our father is an alcoholic. Any money he gets goes to booze.
I pulled up to our grandmothers' house, Hayden and I grabbed our stuff and went inside. It smelt like apples and cinnamon, due to the candles that were lit. I went up to my room, set my things down, and sat on my bed for a little bit. I had started to get anxious. I always did whenever I was going to my mother's or father's. I never knew what to expect so I always got anxious. Once I recollected myself, I went down into the kitchen.
"Hey Gummy," I said giving my grandmother a hug.
"Hey, Dylan. How was the drive? Are the roads bad?" she asked.
"They were fine, although, I can't say the same about Hayden's singing," I said laughing.
"He said the same about you," she chuckled.
"Figures," I said grabbing a water and going into the living room to sit down.
The rest of the night was really boring. All we did was open presents and get money. The present I loved the most was the adult coloring books. I loved coloring. It made me feel like a little kid again. Once we ate, I went up to my room.
I texted Jody and asked her if Trevor had his phone. She said he did and that she was with him but she was leaving soon so I could call him in about 5-10 minutes. I was okay with that. He needs to spend time with his family. Especially on Christmas. While I waited, I started coloring. About 30 minutes went by and Trevor called.
"Oh my god! I was going to call and then I started coloring and I lost track of time. Wait, why did you call? Did something happen?" I asked.
"Nooo, my mom told me that you were going to call and then you didn't so I decided to call you. I thought something happened to you," Trevor said.
"Oh. Nothing really happened. Just presents opened, money received, coloring done," I told him.
"Coloring?"
"Yeah, my grandmother had gotten me 3 adult coloring books."
"Oh really. That sound fun."
"It is honestly. I feel like a little kid again."
"That's nice."
"I guess.."
"What time do you think you'll be in town tomorrow?"
"Well, I have a family Christmas tomorrow and people are supposed to be showing up around 2 so I'd guess that they'd leave around 6 so I'll most likely be in town about 8-9ish."
"Okay, well I'll more than likely be up if you wanted to stop by."
"I'll text you tomorrow when I get into town and if you happen to be awake, I'll stop in."
"Okay, well, I have to go. A nurse just walked in."
"Okay. Goodnight Trevor. I love you."
"Goodnight Dylan. I love you too."
I felt like something was wrong with him. He didn't sound like himself. I pushed those thoughts out of my head. I decided to shower and then go to bed.
December 26th
People started showing up at 1. They said the roads were kind of bad. We ate as soon as they got there and the food was warm. The kids opened gifts then the adults did. After everyone left, I stayed a little bit after to help my grandmother clean up. My uncle had called her and told her the roads were a lot better now.
At about 7, I left. I called Trevor when I got into one of the towns close by. He picked up and told me he was still awake and that I could come and see him. I told him I'd be there in about 10-15 minutes. Once I got to the hospital, I grabbed my bag. I had an extra pair of clothes just in case I fell asleep at the hospital.
"Hey," I said walking into his room.
"Hey," he said smiling.
"Is everything okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, for the most part. Why?" he answered.
"It seems like you're acting weird," I told him.
"Oh, well, I don't know if you wanted to go to prom with me or not, but I figured I'd ask right now and then ask in a better way when I'm able to. I was just thinking ahead and girls usually get the dress before hand and I thought that that may be beneficial to you," he said.
"I would be honored to go to prom with you," I told him.
"I would be honored to take you to prom."
"Better be, but for now, want to help me look at dresses?"
"Well, if you want my opinion, then yes."
"Well, now you're helping me."
We laughed as I grabbed my laptop out of my bag. I sat down on the bed next to him and opened the computer. My wallpaper was a picture of Trevor and I when he was still in a coma. It was a picture that wasn't planned. Nikkey had taken it and sent it to me.
"That is your dress," Trevor said as I stopped to look at a long, red, fitted, lace, and opened back dress. The bottom of it was still flowy enough for me to move around in it. I looked at him and he just looked at the dress in awe.
"You really like that dress?" I asked him.
"Do you?" he asked looking at me.
"Yeah, it's really pretty, but I don't see me wearing it. I'd probably have to get it tailored to fit around my waist, boobs, and butt. It's a lot of money too," I said.
"I'll pay for it," he offered.
"It's your parents' money, not yours. You'd have to get them to pay for it if you really want to see me in the dress. We could always go and try it on and then you can see if you like it," I told him.
"They'll pay for it. Trust me, they'll see the dress and fall in love. Just like I have," he said kissing me.
"You talk to them, but for right now, we should get some rest. It's okay if I stay the night here right?" I asked.
"Yeah," he said. I got up to put my laptop away. I walked back to the bed and cuddled up next to him and fell asleep.
