Hello, fellow Earthlings(: (If you don't live on Earth, then kados to you as well!) well, this is my first story on here; considering I just discovered this website yesterday from one of my friends. Thanks Auroara! -thumps up- OK! So anyway, I really hope you can bear with me on this, I'm not as good as all the other expierenced authors on here. So if you find any grammatical or punctional errors, please tell me so I can learn from my mistakes and learn how to write better! (:
Here a summary of this story:
Emily Carter has been defined her whole life as the "awkward girl". No, not phiscally speaking, but emotionally and mentally. But when her parents announce they are moving to a little town called Floresville in Texas and makes her enroll in a new school, will she change her ways? Or will she always be known as the awkward teenager? Rated PG-13 for launguage, suggested themes, violence, and other high school crap/
So, without further ado, here's the prolouge of my first story on here. Enjoy! ^.^
p r o l o u g e ;
"Emma, please come downstairs honey!" My so-called mother called from downstairs.
I tore my glued eyes off of my laptop screen and inwardly groaned. Usually when she wanted to talk to me a couple of weeks before school started, she would give me "the talk"' which usually consisted of various things. Such as safe sex, prom, football games, popularity, condoms, your usual high school stuff.
But I was really in for a surprise that night.
As I logged off of Facebook, came downstairs, and saw the eager expressions on my parent's faces. I raised an eyebrow at them, "What's with the faces?"
My dad patted wrapped an arm around my shoulder and led me towards the kitchen table. "Honey, have a seat." I oblieged as my mom and dad sat on the opposite side of me. "You know when I told you about my promotion?"
I nodded my head. Dad suddenly had a sudden interest of the enforcement of laws and wanted to become a police officer. Last week, he got promoted to the Sheriff's assistant; which was a huge step towards the future for him.
"Well, the sheriff wanted me to serve as an undercover cop in a little town called Floresville in Texas."
Oh wow, I felt really proud for him- whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on just a second there! TEXAS? My aunt Benny lives in Laredo, Texas and she always tells me how hot the climate is there compared the our freezing climate in Colorado. But besides the point, we just leave everything here including my friends and our beloved house we've had for at least 13 years?
I swallowed the lump in my throat, "S-so, what are you implying?"
"What we're implying is..." my mom started.
"WE'RE MOVING TO TEXAS!" My parents both shouted simutaneously. I mentally face-palmed.
"When?" I asked them with an eyebrow raised. They both looked a little dissapointed; I bet they were expecting to see me jump up and down like a maniac and throw a party like every normal teenage girl would.
Well, here's the problem. I'm.Not.Normal.
"In two weeks! So go to your room and start packing, missy!" Mom demanded, standing up and yanking my arm towards the staircase. I sighed, making my way up to the stairs while memorizing the smallest of details of my home for the very last time. I walked into my room and was almost in a verge of tears. Soon, all of my friends here would forget about me and find a replacement. I grabbed a couple of plastic bags out of my closet along with two suitcases. As I started packing all of the decorations and putting them into the bags, I olny had one thought on my mind:
I wonder if I'll have to wear cowboys boots and a cowboy hat and learn how to ride a horse...
