I poked my head up and everyone was sprawled within the base. Riki was once again on her favorite spot, Ranger's head. Eve was curled into my belly and I was lying on the grey tom's feet. "I'm going hunting, more cats more food."

I carefully removed my sisters paw then slid out of the tree den. It was fairly cool this morning, but it wasn't freezing. I padded towards the Southern forest, the one we shared with the Clan border some base scent wouldn't mix with the prey. Once I got deep enough I scented the fresh forest air, "Chipmunk? No that's mouse." I corrected. I got down into a hunters crouch and stalked towards a pile of leaves. My tail swished eagerly side to side and I pounced on it. Two mice darted out but I slammed a claw on them before they could escape, "Perfect."

I picked them up and buried them in the leaves so I could do more hunting. I scanned the area for any flickers of movement but saw nothing. My ears pricked and I heard the rapid thumping of feet. Within seconds a rabbit bolted from behind a tree and directly at me. My eyes widened and I quickly lunged at it and grabbed its foot. I took a claw and sliced its neck, making it lay limp.

"Wow nice catch!"

I froze and turned around to see a familiar brown tabby she-cat. "Nightmare! It's me Tigerpaw remember?"

I nodded slightly, "Sorry were you chasing the rabbit?" Tigerpaw bounded up to me, "Yeah but it ran out of my territory and you caught it."

I threw it at her paws, "I wouldn't have been able to catch it if you didn't chase it, you should have it." I meowed.

She stared at me, "Really? That's very nice of you Nightmare. You hunt pretty good for not being in a real Clan." she purred.

I flinched as her head rubbed up against my chin as she went to examine my collar, "I know you aren't a kittypet, but what's with the claws?"

"The one in the middle is a badger the one on the right is a dog's claw." I explained pointing with my tail.

"Wow! You have lots of skill for someone that's a moon younger then me. I became an apprentice around two moons ago, any hunting tips?" she meowed.

"Not really, just keep low and stalk quietly." I replied backing away. She tilted her head, "Something wrong?"

"No, I just don't like cats from different groups near my neck." I sighed.

She purred and once again padded closer to my dismay. "You can kill badgers, yet you're afraid of an apprentice?"

"I don't underestimate my enemies, and why aren't you afraid of me? I left that thief of yours some injuries, Sleetpaw was it? I heard most Clan cats flipped out when they met an unknown cat." I mumbled.

She sat down and curled her striped tail over her paws, "I don't know, I can just tell you won't hurt me. If you wanted to you would have let that dog use me as a chew toy."
