*Alex's POV*

"Alex... Are you even listening?" Annika groaned.

"Huh...? Yeah." I said softly.

"You're so drunk right now." She sighed. "I miss the old Alex."

"Me too. The old Alex had Ebony." I bit my lip and took another swig of beer.

It had been six months since Ebony broke up with me. I'd been hospitalised three times, twice from cutting and once for alcohol poisoning.

Annika and Jordan made me move in to theirs to keep me safe, so since then I haven't had to be taken to the emergency room.

My mind needs to be taken to the emergency room. It's seriously shattered and it's bleeding. A lot.

When other people break up, they try and find ways to forget the person they were dating. But on the other hand, I want anything but to forget Ebony.

The day I forget Ebony is the day I die. To be honest, I'm dead already. I've been dead for the last six months.

I can't even breathe anymore unless I'm drunk. The cutting's worse too, but I don't want to talk about it.

I really don't want to talk about it.

Finishing my eleventh beer, I realised that I couldn't see straight anymore. Annika's voice sounded far away.

"Ebony wouldn't want to see you like this." Annika stood up and took the remaining beers into the kitchen.

"Hey..." I tried not to slur my words. It didn't work.

"You're not having any more." She said disappearing into the other room.

Jordan walked in from the bedroom and once he saw me, he went back in and got a blanket, coming in to drape it over me.

My best friend came and sat next to me. "You're a sorry sight."

"I guess." I mumbled, leaning my head on his shoulder.

"You've got to stop the drinking, dude." He said gently.

I shrugged. Who cares anymore? Not me.

"Please, Alex. You mean a lot to me. Please. Just stop it." Jordan begged.

Annika walked in and sat next to me. I put my legs on her and lay across Jordan with my head leaning on the arm of the couch.

My eyelids were growing heavy and I felt myself suddenly become extremely drowsy. "We care about you. More than anything. You're everything to us. We just want you to be happy." Annika sighed.

She giggled, trying to lighten the mood. "I like your Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle socks."

"Ebony bought them." I said bluntly.

Annika and Jordan looked at each other then at the floor. I make everything awkward.

"Do me a favour, Alex?" Jordan asked gently.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"Go to sleep. Close those eyes, buddy." He smiled.

Slowly, I drifted off to sleep on my best friends' laps.
