Rin and Len sat down next to each other with their plates and waited for the others to take their seats. After everyone was situated, they all put their hands in a prayer and said in unison, "itadakimasu!"
Everyone ate hungrily in silence until Luka finally spoke up, "So how was everyone's day today?"
Gumi smiled brightly and replied, "I met a new friend online today! Her name is Ritsu Namine. She's really nice and she lives not to far from here." Luka smiled at Gumi and switched her gaze towards Gakupo. "Gakupo, what did you do today?"
Gakupo finished sipping his drink and replied, "Not much, I recorded a new part of a song though. When I finish it I would like to show it to all of you." Everyone smiled at the mention of music.
Rin drummed her fingers on the table as she ate, then looked up and made eye contact with Luka. Luka had a "don't drum your fingers on the table" glare. They called it The Look. When Luka or another adult gave you the look, you knew you were doing something unmannerly. Most of the time they didn't get the look as much as they did when they were kids since they were all older now. "Rin, what did you and Len do at the park today?" Luka asked.
"I talked to Miku and Len talked with Neru." She replied. Luka nodded and looked over at Len. "Len were you chatting with your girlfriend?" Luka joked. She made her voice a slightly higher pitch when she said "girlfriend" Len rolled his eyes and looked away. "She's not my girlfriend. We're just friends." Len stared at his food not making eye contact with anyone for the rest of dinner. It was bad enough his hormones had been all over the place lately. After dinner, everyone helped clean up and then proceeded to their normal evening routines. Rin went upstairs to take a shower first, then Len after. While Len waited he went into his room and got back on his computer. He noticed he got an email and opened the tab.
"New message from Kaito? Let's see..." Len mumbled to himself as he clicked the link Kaito sent with the email. A few seconds later, a video started to load on his screen. Len sat back in his chair and waited for the video to play.
What Len saw next was totally uncalled for.Rin stepped out of the warm shower and grabbed her fluffy orange towel off the rack. She wrapped it around her body and walked over to the sink to brush her short hair. She brushed until all the tangles were out and she put her brush back into the drawer. She grabbed her orange toothbrush out the cup and put a little bit of her orange flavored toothpaste on the brush. As Rin brushed her teeth she slipped into her soft green nightgown. She spit into the sink and rinsed off her brush and put it back into the cup. She hung her towel back on the rack to dry and walked out of the bathroom and down the hall to her brother's room.
Rin opened the door and immediately regretted that.
"LEN WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WATCHING?!" She screamed. Len quickly closed his computer screen and fell backwards in his chair, his face as red as a tomato. "R-Rin I.." He stuttered. Rin stood there blushing as well, not knowing what to say.
The room fell silent for a moment and Len stood up slowly, shifting uncomfortably. Rin stared at the floor for a moment before looking up at her brother. "Um...it's time for your bath."
Len nodded and walked to his dresser to grab his clothes. Rin's eyes wondered around the room, and they fell onto the computer. Flashbacks of what she just witnessed played back in her mind and sent shivers down her spine. She looked back down at the ground but not before noticing something else equally as awkward for both her and her brother. "Um..hey Len?" She spoke up. Len turned and looked at his sister curiously. "What is it?"
Rin blushed and looked back at the ground. "Y-your...pants."
Len looked down and quickly pulled his shirt down and blushed from ear to ear. His face felt like fire. "D-don't look Rin!" He mustered those words out before pushing by his sister and running down the hall and into the bathroom.Len sat on his bedside, the flashbacks of the earlier incident replaying over and over in his head until he finally shoved his face into his pillow and screamed in anger and embarrassment.
"Stupid purbety! Stupid Kaito and his stupid videos! What was that called again? Mememe? I don't know. Ugh...why is life so hard? Can this night get any more awkward?" As if on cue, Len heard 4 knocks on the door. It was Rin. "Come in."
Rin opened the door slowly, carrying her pillow and a fluffy blanket with her. "Hey. The people are still in my room fixing the A/C so I have to sleep in here tonight." Rin explained. Len nodded and stood up and rolled a trundle out from under his bed. Rin placed her pillow and blanket down on the trundle bed and fixed it so it was ready for when she had to go to sleep.
Rin climbed up in the bed next to Len and placed her head on his shoulder. "About earlier...why were you watching that video?" Rin asked. Len blushed a light pink and replied, "Kaito sent it to me in an email. I didn't want to watch it, before you came in I was just about to turn it off but you scared me."
Rin lifted her head up and looked at her brother. "I'm sorry. I was just...I don't know. Confused? Scared? What's the word?" Rin squinted her eyes thinking hard to herself for a brief moment.
Len smiled at Rin and answered, "Shocked?"
Rin looked over at her brother with sparkling eyes. "Yes! Thank you Len!" She smiled and hugged Len, making them both slowly slip backwards on top of each other. Len blushed and Rin smiled and giggled. "No problem..." Len smiled up at his sister. She was just so close. Gahh! Stop thinking like that Len! You're better than that!
Len mentally kicked himself for thinking that way towards his sister. It wasn't entirely his fault, though. It was puberty who was most responsible for this.
Rin noticed Len starting to get lost in his own thoughts and spoke up, "Len are you ok? I noticed you've been acting sort of..strange lately."
Len quickly snapped out of his thoughts and answered, "yeah...I've just been thinking about some things."
Rin tilted her head. "Like what?" She asked curiously, wanting to know everything her brother was thinking. Not that she was nosey, but she cared about him and wanted to help Len with whatever is troubling him.
Len looked back up at Rin then moved his gaze over to the ceiling. "Nothing you should be concerned about. It's no big deal."
He lied. This was a big deal. A Huge deal. He was falling in love with his twin sister for crying out loud. His own twin. He looked back over at Rin who seemed 0% convinced that this was the truth. She knew very well that if Len said "It's no big deal" its something you should be concerned about. It was common sense. Even she did that.
Len felt a sweat drop run down his head and swallowed hard. He suddenly felt very nervous around Rin, and he knew it wasn't because his feelings towards her. He looked up and found that she was Glaring into his very soul.
Rin stared at Len until he finally gave in and sat up, making her fly backwards into the other end of the bed. She pushed herself back up and listened to every single word that spilled out of Len's mouth.
"Okay! I'll say it! I've been acting strange because...because I..." Len looked up at Rin nervously. Should he really confess this early? Is he really going to do this or should he cover it up somehow? If he did, what was he going to say? He was acting strange because he felt like Rin was actually a killer?! Len let out a sigh and blushed spread across his face. He felt tears form in his eyes and he sniffled. He might as well tell the truth and hope for the best.
Rin sat patiently and looked at her brother with some-what sympathetic eyes.
Len took a deep breath in, and opened his mouth to finally confess when there was a knock at the door. "Come in" Len said. Gakupo walked in and spotted Rin. "Oh hi Rin. I though you were with Gumi. I guess this is okay since I see you're on the trundle bed. Anyways Len I just came in to say goodnight."
Len and Rin smiled and replied in unison, "Goodnight Gakupo."
Rin slid off Len's bed and into the trundle bed and slipped under her blanket. Len slipped under his blankets secretly relieved that he didn't have to feel the wrath and hatred of his sister. He just didn't seem ready to face tomorrow morning either. Probably at breakfast, Rin is most likely going to ask him 'so what were you going to tell me last night?' And he would have to make up something stupid which he didn't even know what to say in place of that. Hopefully though, Rin would forget overnight and not remember for a long time which isn't that likely because she remembers everything. Len heard his door close, and listened to Gakupo's foot steps disappear down the hall and down the stairs.
The room fell silent once again, and Len braced himself because according to Rin, silence is the best time to ask awkward questions you were trying to avoid answering. It happens everytime they have a sensitive or awkward subject like so."So what were you going to tell me?" Rin whispered.
Called it.
