Jacklyn looked at her calendar once again to make sure it was telling the truth. It was. There was 30 days until her 18th birthday and it felt like a hundred years had passed since she last checked her calendar yesterday. With a sigh she fell back onto her small single sized mattress that sat on the floor and looked at the stuffed bunny she had next to her pillow. Jacklyn grabbed it and hugged it to her chest squeezing her eyes shut and hoping her whole life past the age of 10 had been a dream and that she would wake up soon. Sadly when she opened her eyes she was still in her closet of a room in the basement.
Jacklyn looked over to the clock on the floor next to her mattress and sighed. The clock read 5:05am. She looked to the bunny who she had named Thomas in her earlier years and smiled. His slightly ripped ear and heavily frayed bow tie did nothing to convene her otherwise. She nodded in conclusion he was the most valuable object in the room, in her perspective anyways.
"Should I get up and get ready for the day or lay down here and waist away?" She asked Thomas chuckling as she realized she had made a rhyme.
Thomas, being an inanimate object, obviously did not reply.
Jacklyn started humming "Sleepwalking" by bring me the horizon (If you don't know the song it's at the top) and tracing Thomas's sewn in lips with her thumb. She looked at the clock to see she had only waisted 10 minuets making it 5:15.
Reluctantly she started shuffling through one of the small boxes that held most of her possessions and got out the clothes she was going to wear for the day. Changing out of her faded checkered over sized shirt she pulled on a black hoodie that read: "PROUD TO BE ABNORMAL" in silver slanted letters. She stuffed her legs through black leggings and put on white and black checkered shorts on top of them. Jacklyn felt to lazy to put on an actual shirt and felt as though she had tried enough for today after slipping on mixed matched socks and black knock off converses.
Jacklyn trudged over to the mirror on the back of her bed room door and glanced at her reflection quickly not really wanting to see herself mostly just to see how her clothes fit together. What Jacklyn saw before her was a stunningly beautiful young woman who owned large bright green eyes that had random flecks of gold and yellow in them, hair such a vibrant red you could practically feel warmth spreading from it the color alone would put hell's fires to shame, freckles spotting the bridge of her nose and teeth so white and straight it would put arrogant tumblr users into a rage even they didn't understand. In other words she was absolutely, 100%, no doubt about it, gorgeous. Her only flaw was her height standing at a wopping 5 foot and 3 inches. Impressive right?
Before Jacklyn could say anything to put down the author's narration (Breaking the fourth wall XD) someone opened the door making Jacklyn get a little too close and personal with her reflection. She felt the dust of the old mirror cascade down her face in a dirty, dusty veil. Jacklyn rubbed her face clean of the repulsive dirt that slightly tickled her face before looking around to the other side of the door to see her enraged step father Mike towering over her.
Oh no.
