"Frisk," He said my name; one syllable, one breath.

I looked up, pulling my hood down, allowing my hair to fall down, past my shoulders now. He stared at me, his usual smile gone, his mouth was parted in surprise.

"How many years?" He followed up, taking a single step towards me. I stepped forward as well, after our emotional good byes, years ago, I promised to return one day.

"Too many," I whispered quietly. And then like that, I was swept up into an enormous hug. Sans squeezed me tightly against his chest, oddly it wasn't as boney as I had imagined.

"I never thought I'd see you again," Sans said quietly, still hugging me, "When you stopped coming..."

He let go, still touching my arm as he looked at me expectantly.

"I promised I'd come back to see you, anyways, you could say that this was always my real home. I enjoy it here so much more," I stopped for a second, "And by here I mean with you guys of course," I paused again and looked around at his new home, "So Papyrus and you decided to build here? Too good for Snowdin?" I gestured to the house they'd created on the slope of Mount Ebott and gave a small laugh.

"We wanted to be where we could see the sun and the stars... heh, the snow up here helps too... Well and we can still get under the mountain from here easily so..."

I smiled, his fingertips left my arm, then he led me inside.

"Papyrus!" I said happily as I gave him a short hug, "I'm so glad to see you."

"Nyehehehe I can't believe Sans actually thought you'd never come back, he complained about it all the time!" Papyrus said, laughing.

I looked behind me, Sans was looking at his shoes quietly, then he glanced up, "Papyrus, shouldn't you go work on the Junior Jumble?"

"Good idea, it was nice to see you again Frisk, please visit more often," He responded waving bye to me and taking the stairs up to his room.

"Why don't we go get lunch?" Sans asked me, smiling that smile I loved.

"Why don't I just make something?" I responded, smiling back.

"Come on Frisk, we should go see Undyne and Alphys. I bet Toriel would love to see you too. We'll go right by their houses on the way."

I nodded, and we were off. Sans seemed different now, he seemed to joke a lot less, but in contrast he seemed to be more involved and proactive than before. We walked for what seemed like forever, I said hi to many friends along the way. When we finally reached Toriel's house she gave me a hug and told me she loved me. I called her mom and told her I loved her too, it felt so good. I wish I had stayed more sometimes; it had only been a few years though... I still had obligations, sort of. I had visited as often as I could; I was an ambassador between the monsters and humans for a year or so until they didn't need me anymore. After that there wasn't really much reason to come back besides visiting and I got caught up in life. I realize now though that they were more like my family than my awful parents ever could have been. I also realize that's such a shitty excuse, I should have made time for my friends.

"They live by the beach, it's only a ten-minute walk from here," Sans said glancing back at Toriel and Asgore's cottage, "She teaches at the school, you know?" He followed up.

"She always seemed like she'd enjoy that, I'm glad she's doing what makes her happy. How have you been?" I asked, making a mental note that this time we weren't taking any short cuts. Maybe he just wanted to be able to talk.

"Let's see..." Sans trailed off, "I'm the same old lazy bones I guess," He smiled and so did I.

"I see," I responded, "Hopefully you've stayed out of trouble though?"
