Being a fan is not as easy as one, two, three. Specially if you're idolizing an international star. That's definitely what I feel. Aminado naman ako, I love Kpop. I love them more than I love OPM. But if you're going to ask me, why? Its simply because I love them. Kpop is kpop. Nothing more nothing less. Even if its hard for you to understand why we have these different genre, we really don't care. As long as we, kpop fans are having fun with what we are doing then that's it. Sabi nga nila 'kanya kanyang trip lang yan'. And this is our own trip, so why bother to say something about us? Many people make fun of us if they found out that we love kpop, that we are kpop lovers. Para bang nag iiba ang tingin nyo saamin. Why? Its look like you're judging us simply because we have a different genre, different style. Dahil ba tingin nyo hindi namin sila naiintindihan? Dahil ba tingin nyo sa mga mukha lang ng artist kami nakabase? You must be underestimating us then. Didn't you know that psychologist says about a kpop fan:
"Don't underestimate those children who chase after Korean celebrities, their hearts are purer than anyone else, they love courageously, they will want to try their best to tackle difficult obstacles, the language and cultural barriers. They symbolize peace, they don't discriminate based on race, they befriend people with the same interest from different countries, they're more passionate and warm than anyone else. They don't betray the ones they like easily, they are persistent and don't give up easily. They are stronger than anyone else on the inside, because when they are loving these Korean stars, they experience the setbacks they've never experienced in life."
So if you really understand that, are you still make fun of us? Do you still underestimate us? Some people said that 'love your own country', mahalin daw ang sariling atin. May nasasabi kayo samin kasi mas pinaprioritize namin ang ibang bansa kesa sa Philippines. Pero may sinabi ba kami na hindi namin priority ang philippines? Oo, minsan pinapangarap namin na sana koreans nalang kami, para sa mga idol namin. Pero hindi naman namin sineseryoso ang bagay na yun. We only said that just because of them. We still are Filipinos. Yes, we can take risk in some culture barriers. Sometimes we practice a korean culture, but that doesn't change the fact that we are filipinos. Kahit saan kami makapunta, kahit ano pang magawa namin, we are still a filipino. Mas nangingibabaw samin ang act ng isang pinoy.
At bilang isang fan, masakit din samin na nilalait ang mga idol namin. Pinagtatawanan nyo kami because you always say na 'bakla' 'retokada' or what ang mga iniidolo namin. Ako naman ang magtatanong sa inyo. Yung mga idols or hinahangaan nyo ba sa tv, feeling nyo ba natural beauty sila? Feeling nyo ba magiging ganun din ang itsura nila kung hindi sila nag heheavy make up? Put this in mind people 'Idols are the same. Artist are all the same. They always do whats best on their physical appearance. If they think that it can make them look good then they won't hesitate to do it. ' So always remember that Idols in hollywood, or filipino artists or even kpop artists are all the same. But take this note, not all the koreans star are retokada. If you said that to our bias, then if we corrected you, don't think of us as a defensive people. Because us, as a fangirl/boy will know what is the truth or not. We find ways to know even the little details of our bias. Even their baby pictures are important to us, so you don't have the rights to judge them based on what you saw.
But always remember this, even if we have a different genre, we are still ordinary people that can communicate to others normally. Nagtatagalog pa rin kami. Even if we have an online international friend, we still have the normal friends that had a different interest to us. Iba iba naman kasi tayo ng hilig. What I want to say is, don't think of us as a different people. Pinoy pa rin kami. Nasasaktan pa rin kami pag jinujudge nyo yung mga idols namin. At mas nasasaktan kami kung pinagtatawanan nyo kami ng dahil lang sa iba ang hilig namin. So don't judge, okay?
Before I end this, I want to ask you a questions:
Bakit mo kinakanta ang mga english songs? Bakit idol mo sila Justin Bieber? Madonna? 1 Direction? 5SoS? Paramore?
Now if you answer that question, do you realize now what a fangirl/boy feel?
