Chapter 35

11:56am.

I woke up kind of early because before I head to work I wanted to stop by that club from the other day. Before I could leave I try to find my key. I always do this! And this point I won't be able to go to The Zoo. It's only been two days since I went to the music store but I think I'm ready to get back in it. That "Help Wanted" sign was my sign for me.

Finally! I found my keys. I left my room and as I was about to walk out I saw Ethan in the kitchen drinking coffee. I went in to grab an apple.

Me - "Hey."

Ethan - "Hey."

Things have been a little intense since Ethan tried scolding me. I understand he's looking out for me but I would appreciate it if he didn't.

Ethan - "You're leaving early."

Me - "Yeah. I want to do something before I head to work."

Ethan - "What is it?"

I turned to him and narrowed my eyes.

Me - "I'm going to apply for a side job at a club called The Zoo."

He spit his coffee back in his cup and looked at me.

Ethan - "You have to be 21 to work at a club like that. Why bother?"

Me - "Because."

I tried to leave it at that but he raised an eyebrow at me. I know he's not going to drop it.

Me - "Okay look, lately I've been really itching to dance and do my music again. I miss it a lot. And when Max and I were out the other day I had went into a music store that had instruments everywhere and you should've heard me Eth. I played the keyboard like I've never stopped. Then on our way home I saw a "Help Wanted" sign outside of the club."

Ethan - "So you took it as your sign to pick up where you left off?"

I nodded but he rolled his eyes.

Ethan - "Then buy a new music set up for yourself. Or better yet! Have your mom send your old equipment over here."

Oh my God! My eyes widen.

Me - "Ethan you're a genius!"

I kissed his cheek and started to head towards the door. As I put a foot out the door I left my head in.

Me - "But I'm still applying at the club."

Then I slammed the door shut.

Max's POV

Jesus I'm tired. Lia and I talked for a while as I was out doing stuff and then when I got home I had an assignment to do. As I go to the locker room I see Ethan walk in. I smile at him and greet him, he does the same but weak. I tried asking him how the rest of his weekend was but he shrugged me off.

Me - "What's wrong Man? Is this about what happened Friday? Look Man I'm real sorry. If it's disrespect I'll-"

Suddenly he got in my face. I'll admit it took me by surprise but I started to work up my pride.

Ethan - "Look Man. Lia is like a little sister to me. I love her more than my own brothers and I don't want shit happening to her. These last few months have been rough for her, real rough. And I know you got a past so if anything happens to her I'm coming after you."

He knows about me? Nevermind that. What's with Lia?

Ethan - "And she's starting to pick herself up finally and if you fuck it up in anyway! I'm coming for you."
