Chapter 11 : "Set In Motion"

Neo jumped in between the fighters, Cinder and Chronos breathing heavily behind her. The beast, her brother, glared at the girl. His terrifying red eyes landed on the girl, and in doing so the beats became still. For a while, they just stood there. All four of them, waiting for the other to make a move.

"You remember me, right big brother?" Neo asked hopefully. Her eyes searched the seas of red known as the beasts eyes, waiting for any sign of recognition.

Flint's body moved first, grabbing Neo's arm and throwing her away. It roared after, then once again charged towards Cinder and Chronos.

Neo grabbed her arm, the small cuts drawing her attention. Blood slowly trickled from the three cuts, but they were nothing major. She could attend to them later. Her mind suddenly caught up to the reality, realizing what had happened.

Flint pushed her out of the way. That showed one thing and one thing only to her: Flint had willingly allowed this, this...... This behemoth to take him over. The only question was why?

-Flint's Body, When Neo Jumps Out-

Flint's body stood, shocked at the sight of the girl before him. Something in Flint's boggled and stressed mind, one name came to the forefront of his mind and burned brightly.

"Neo Poli LockRyder."

Flint suddenly remembered that his sister's favorite ice cream flavor was Neapolitan, her being named after it.

Flint suddenly heard a voice speaking to him, and he felt that pull that had affected him earlier. He felt his own control slipping, his mind being caged once more. Something was pulling him back.

Before he lost absolute control, he forced himself to grab his sister and throw her out of harm's way.

Neo watched as the body of her brother began fighting Cinder and Chronos once more. It brought its right arm, covered in fur and tipped with deadly claws, down onto them. They both evaded in time, the area they were both in now completely turned to rubble. Luckily, they were still in the plain before the city.

Cinder suddenly raised her hand, then put the hand down so that her nails targeted Flint. On cue, the massive wolf pack attacked again. They quickly surrounded Flint, then began their assault. They charged Flint, ready to sink their claws into his flesh.....

Neo closed her eyes, hoping that Flint would be able to repel the pack. At first, there was no sound. Neo kept her eyes closed, wary of what she would see. It was only when Cinder gasped and the sound of a low growl was heard that Neo opened her eyes. What she saw amazed her. The largest wolf, most likely the alpha, had its head in Flint's hand. No, they weren't attacking and the wolf hadn't been killed. Flint was petting the beast.

Flint turned his attention to Cinder and Chronos, then roared at the pack. The pack ran towards Cinder and Chronos, their speed quickening. Chronos and Cinder readied themselves, waiting for the oncoming onslaught.

An onslaught that never came. The massive pack ran around them, forming a protective half-circle blocking the wall from the outside. Flint suddenly felt himself regain control, the power over his body returning to him. His wings disappeared and his arms returned to normal.

Flint looked back at Cidner and Chronos, only to find that they had disappeared. Flint suddenly ran towards the soldiers, quickly telling them something he himself didn't understand that well.

"Don't shoot them. They'll defend the hole until we have built a new section." Flint said quickly.

"How can you know that!?" One of the soldiers asked him.

"I told them to." Flint said. "If you don't believe me, I'll talk to your commander." The soldiers gave each tower a threatening look, but one soldier vouched for him.

"The kid's right. I saw what he did. Believe him. However, if they attack us, we're shooting them down." The old soldier said, his brown eyes staring at Flint.

"Fine." Flint suddenly remembered that Cinder and Chronos had escaped, disappearing into the unknown.

"Fuck."

Cinder clutched her side painfully. Blood poured from the wound, making her already red dress dark with her blood. Mercury ran everywhere around the factory, grabbing every medical supply he could get his hands on.

"Mercury! Bandages! NOW!" Emerald shouted as she used everything Mercury got her.

"Here ya go!" Mercury said, dropping the bandages and looking at Cinder's pained expression. He pitied her, but he also felt another emotion.

Revenge.

Mercury wanted revenge on whoever had harmed his sister figure, the rage building inside him. Mercury quickly turned around, swiftly moving to the secret exit.

"Mercury! Where do you think you're going!?" Emerald shouted at him.

"To find whoever did this to Cinder."
