I was seventeen years old when,my life changed. It was a dark stormy night. My mother was working the night shift. My mother was a nurse at the St. Alexander hospital. She worked anytime she could, things haven't been the same since my dad passed away.
We have been living in the same motel room for two years now, room 14 at the super eight. I was always afraid of room 13 it gave me an uneasy feeling. It was around nine o'clock in the evening. I heard shouting across the hall. I didn't think much about the yelling. I wanted to keep to myself ,but I had a terrible feeling about it. I opened my door and walked across the hall to room 13. The door was slightly open the screaming had stopped. That's about the time I saw a strange man. He was standing over an old lady. He kept asking her were her wallet was. She kept saying she didn't carry money. I wanted to stop him but, I was scared to speak. I started to back away slowly when I heard the sound of a gun shot.
That when I started to run, the stranger started to run after me. That's when I ran into a police officer.
